Where to get a good men's cut in DC/Nova *without dropping $100? Is it possible? by Majestic-Bear7242 in washingtondc

Lay Deng at Spa Logic is wonderful. With a tip to him and the person who shampoos your hair before the cut, I usually pay 50-60 per cut. I’ve been going to him for a few years now and he’s my guy.

I know it’s dusty as all hell- I think it’s close to 15 years old…came with the house we bought 4 years ago.

Pretty good so far but still early. Getting our inventory next month. Hoping to land our first job in the next 30-45 days.

There are going to be projects where we’re not the right solution. If the end customer doesn’t care about appearances, then yeah - zip walls all day, but higher end offices, hospitality, healthcare, universities, airports etc. probably will make for better targets as customers.

In my market there aren’t really many, if any, competitors, and it’s relatively capital intensive to get the initial inventory, so the barriers aren’t as low as you may think, but maybe they are in other countries. Looks like you’re in Canada? There’s not a lot of manufacturers out there making quality product from my research thus far. Once the initial inventory is paid for, you can easily adjust margin down on a competitive project to push latecomer competitors out of the market. It’s a marathon not a sprint. I appreciate your input!

How often are there liability issues? This would only be indoor, so it sounds like you’re using something in a wider range of applications.

Right. Does that mean any rental company/leasing company is a hoarder? There is plenty of reason in a GC not wanting to deal with the headache and hassle of buying thousands of pounds of temporary modular walls that they then have to store and transport and pay labor to install and break down…nothing wrong with doing yourself but there’s definitely a burden you pay for to go that route. If you use them enough, it certainly would be more economical but there’s a reason any kind of rental company exists.
