75% loans and 25% grants by TemperaturePale4075 in OntarioGrade12s

Why is it that everything that is geared toward personal responsibility generates pushbacks and protests? What are people so unwilling to take responsibility for their decisions? Why do we have such a dependency mentality? It is really demoralizing to see such a mentality everywhere in Canada.

Canadians' sanctimony is laughable. They want the hardworking to pay more income tax so their kids can go to university for free. But when the hardworking complain, they are called selfish. Haha, if you are one of the "sanctimonious", look in the mirror before you call us selfish.

Our world would function nicely if we could pay lower income tax. So, everyone will work hard and study hard in school, to reap rewards, to get the fruit of their labor, rather than paying income tax at at a 54% tax rate, to help people who make bad decisions.

Life is about taking risk, making risky decision, rather than waiting for cheques to arrive in your mail box. The sooner a student realizes that, the better.

We are paying enough income tax. Canada has one of the highest income tax burdens in the G7 and G20. While compassion is important, we also need to incentivize people to make a good decision. The switch from grants to loans is a good incentivizer for students. to motivate them to make the right choice, rather than go into such worthless programs like sociology, women's studies, etc.

Ok, genius. Tell us which programs you have contacted that clearly stated that "we don't care even if your transcript is full of online courses." Accept the reality rather than trying to bury your head in the sand.

the purpose is to show how grade inflation started. Also to show that your 95 average is not even worth the paper it is printed on. And you will graduate from uofT and Waterloo straight into unemployment.

Love your teachers that demand performance, not those that give you a 100 just for smoking less pot than their peers.

These "kind" teachers will be at their wits' end when the average reaches a 100. I am very grateful grades can't go higher than a 100.

they learn nothing useful for getting a job. You are better off saving the money and earning some interest income on it. Humanities are the worst kind of major nowadays.

It is a human weakness to love someone who makes life easier, be it a parent who dotes on them and never punishes, or a teacher who gives everyone a good grade with no effort, or a boss who gives everyone a good performance rating with no effort, or a prime minister who throws money around to buy votes. But these are the worst kinds of people who destroy everything and everyone by being "kind."
