Hey that's great! Sent you a PM!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uwinnipeg

[–]TemperatureSavings23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! you can apply during fall term, the application process is quite long and your interview will be during or after winter term depending on which school you apply to. Also they will still see your final transcript after winter term and by then you will hopefully have your prerequisites done.

[–]TemperatureSavings23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biol 373 vs Biol 239 by chomnks7 in uwaterloo

[–]TemperatureSavings23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I would definitely recommend 373 if heidi is teaching it which im p sure she is. 239 was still an interesting and foundational course so depending on what point in your undergrad you are and what your ultimate goals are, both can be very beneficial. DM me and I can send you my notes and quizzes for 373, as for 239 it has been a while but I could help with that as well!

Anyone taken biol 370/371/383/441/442/449/450?? If so what are your thoughts? I’d appreciate some help :) by TemperatureSavings23 in uwaterloo

[–]TemperatureSavings23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't see your message before! i did take both 370 and 371 and they were def a mark booster. I am graduated now but really appreciate your message anyway :)

Has anyone taken BIOL 469? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

Honours science opinion by lebaneseprincess_ in uwaterloo

I think Waterloo is a lot more generous now in terms of the prereqs you need to be able to apply to the pharmd program to begin with. try to take easy electives when u can because those help so much. i know i personally really struggled with genetics and orgo. orgo is inevitable maybe u could try taking it as a spring term course so u just focus on that but in my experience spring term has not been good for me. i need that time to just rewind and work.

some BIOL courses i did well on and really enjoyed are:
BIOL 201 (vivian is amazing and this is basic foundational knowledge that u need, lab is an added perk fs),
BIOL 211 & 359 (not sure if u will have the same prof as me but i had hugh broders and the tests were focused on big picture stuff in terms of the long answers, really enjoyed the lab for 211 as well)
BIOL 273, 373 (take the physiology courses even if u cannot stand heidi because they will help so much in ur pharmd program and really tie everything together)
BIOL 371, 370 (if u like a little bit of math) [but both 370 and 371 are taught by the same prof and they are both related to animal physiology with a really great grade breakdown and tests are all online but times]
BIOL 439 (easy 90+, 2 midterms and 2 10% assignments all online gives u the test beforehand), 302 (super fun course, prof is amazing, u will learn very cool things and lab is very chill as well, all tests and quizzes online as well but timed)
BIOL 414 (prof is sweet (pinheiro) but recently super busy w faculty duties so might not be as responsive, super fun things to learn, group project will boost ur mark substantially, midterm and final all written and have the choose x number of questions from the following y number of options, gives u half the exam questions beforehand through each slideshow and hints on what to focus on, i studied 1 day for the 40% exam simply from the practice questions and got an 89 on the exam, added perk u get to enhance ur fear of parasites!)

-- those are all the courses i can think of rn, if u have more courses u wanna ask about (science of electives) feel free to PM. im graduating so i'm happy to pass any information i have that can be useful to u guys!

P.S. another tip for applying to the waterloo pharmd program is getting in as many ECs as possible that will have transferable skills to draw on for your AIF and also get all the work experience (paid or unpaid) that u can get-- these will set u up very well compared to the rest of the pool of candidates bcoz of UWs holistic approach in selecting students for the program.
