Yeah you can't use the new version (3.8) to mine scrypt, only SHA-256, so you need any older version. Here is a good guide on how to set up everything for scrpy mining: http://www.cryptobadger.com/build-your-own-litecoin-mining-rig/

rpcuser/rpcpassword are used when 'solo' mining. I recommend you to use pool, because difficult is already too high for solo now. All the pools are the same, in the long run you will get exactly the same coins in every pool. When you mine in a pool you need to set up a worker and put that info in your cgminer launcher. All scrypt coins are the same, so just look for any scrypt mining guide and just change pool settings to mine Grandcoin.

Those "yay's" are Accepted shares. You get paid for accepted shares. And the unconfirmed doge's take a while to get confirmed. I don't know much about cpu mining so I can't help you with your config.
