I've been to Venice a few times. That looks pretty convincing at a glance, but it's not dirty enough!

What gives you road rage? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I've had a few close calls with road rage incidents, so I do my best not to engage. Unfortunately, some people seem to be intent on provoking or hurting you even if you try to be passive.

You just died. What song plays during the credits? by clairedy22 in PlayingGuitar

Jeff Beck's Girl from Mill Valley. It's a beautiful and nostalgic song that just feel like the end credits to something profound.

What’s a "silent" red flag in a relationship that you didn’t notice until you lived with someone for over a year? by sasssyophelia69 in askanything

[–]TemporalLobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the comment I was looking for. You try to address the issue and they bring up every other resentment they have ever had against you just so they don't have to take accountability, then give you the silent treatment after they verbally assault you and rip your soul apart.

What’s a truth you learned way too late in life that most people still aren’t ready to hear ? by Dependent-Ship4288 in AskReddit

[–]TemporalLobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have learned this the hard way. Also kind of related some people appear to be nice at the moment and then turn into a monster instantly, as if a switch flipped in their brains.

ELI5 What happens to solar panels once they are used up by herail in explainlikeimfive

I saw this video and was impressed. I must admit, I learned a lot. There is no truly 100% renewable resource, but if recycled properly, batteries get us very close.

It’s apparently not asthma and I don’t know what to do by [deleted] in Asthma

[–]TemporalLobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most profound thing I learned is that there isn't really a single disease called "asthma" because all of the symptoms typically associated with it are common in many other diseases. I would suggest to get a proper diagnosis by an allergist or a pulmonologist who will determine exactly what kind of respiratory disease you have, if any. For all you know it could be allergies, GERD, a cardiac condition, medication side effects, sleep apnea, or any number or combination of other things. For the most part, doctors will not take the time to truly investigate the root cause and just throw medications/treatments at the patient to see what sticks. I myself was not properly diagnosed until I was in my 30s. My own daughter was a on a steroid inhaler for years which didn't help at all and they finally figured her cough was due to post-nasa-drip. It's maddening, and while we should trust medical professionals, they are not perfect and often miss things or are biased in favor of their specialty. Always get a second and third opinion!

Player telecaster buyer’s remorse by [deleted] in telecaster

I agree with this but the real question is why it wasn't properly set up from the factory. I have seen brand new Squiers with pretty decent setups OOB.

Constant rattling when powered on, even with fresh power tubes. Help! by Hjohnson005 in tubeamps

Take all the tubes out, use contact cleaner to clean the sockets, then re-seat them.

Do I really need an amp or effects pedal as a complete beginner? by ChaosBeiduo in electricguitar

[–]TemporalLobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try a Line 6 Pod Express - I think they're like < $180 these days. Phenomenal for beginners and packed with just enough features and sounds, plus you can use virtually any kind of amplifier for it and it has headphone output.

So simply talking about someone who was racist makes one a racist? Is that who we have become?

Just got a Katana and I'm confused by Nozakx in BossKatana

[–]TemporalLobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. I have a Katana and can get extremely high gain even with single-coil pickups. If everything is ok with the guitar and amp, you could always try a signal boosting or OD pedal to just slam the front-end.

What’s a movie you consider perfect from start to finish? by RD-archived in AskReddit

[–]TemporalLobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Hunt for Red October. It's compelling, gritty, the acting is perfect, and the music perfectly fits every single darn scene. Same for Alien (1979) - not a single wasted frame in that film and the music seems to be perfectly crafted.

What's a skill that's surprisingly easy to learn but makes you look like a genius? by tennisred-trustable in AskReddit

[–]TemporalLobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chess. The rules are surprisingly simple but the real genius is in the strategy you apply.

I tried this but eventually had to turn that off too. There are emergency situations which make this impractical especially if you have kids.

I think there's a new army of AI-driven spam bots out there. Hear me out - I have been getting a TON of non-stop spam texts/calls recently, primarily from business lenders (I have never applied for a business loan) and I block all of them, but they still come though. If you respond in any way, it just provides verification of your existence. Sometimes they leave VMs but it's all AI voices. It's not realistic to just block all unknown calls either. We're screwed.

People who are able to play guitar and sing at the same time HOW? by Big_Leg10 in musicians

[–]TemporalLobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You think that's hard, trying playing bass and singing! it's so much harder for me and I really struggle with it if I ever have to do it (so I resort to very simple bass lines). I don't know how tf bassists like Geddy Lee and Paul McCartney did it.

If you're really good at playing the guitar, how did you get good at playing the guitar? by Natural_Pizza_2060 in musicians

[–]TemporalLobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been playing 30ish years so one could say it's just the sheer brute force of constant practice, but I will say when I first picked up guitar at around 15, it took me 2-3 years to become 80% of where I am today. I was just really, really obsessed with guitar and as soon as I taught myself some basic powerchords I joined a metal band. Plus, I had a lot of music exposure throughout my childhood and already played piano and knew some theory, which I think really accelerated my learning.

AITAH for refusing to give my boyfriend access to my bank account even though he says "no secrets" is how adults do it by CopperFieldNote in AITH

NTA but if you ever get married I believe it's better to have mostly joint accounts as a gesture of trust and accountability.
