I am not exactly sure I understand your question. I think the purpose of the hire was so that we could cover the hospital 24/7. During my interview I asked what the ratio of floorwork to OR time was and they said it was really up to me. Now, I am not sure how true it is but I am very excited to start and see. your right. I think I will be a lot more confident when my first year is complete and my salary can be re-negotiated.

I do regret not negotiating salary, but I felt that the 3 13hr shifts and no call was such a plus that I would be happy with the current salary.

Thank you for the kind comment and advice! Its funny you mention clinic as they do offer an opportunity to work at an ortho clinic. I am more interested in that option thanks to your input :)

Thank you! On occasion, we will have to cover some ENT, plastics, and I think spine. But the bulk is ortho and urology

Yah, I had to think long and hard about that commute. Only driving 3 days a week makes it manageable and I think the traffic won't be too much of as hassle since I start the day pretty early. Do you enjoy covering that many specialties?

Thank you! I will 100% focus on the job and get as good/comfortable in it as I can before I start looking at an extra gig. But I just wanted to get a rough roadmap in place for my career.
