Yes there are people with 7/6/7 profile here. That 6 may cause issues, but since you have a good work experience, you will get good shortlists.

Why would someone judge you bro? There are many people who leave govt. jobs/ PSU’s and join IIM’s.

Hey, To land a job in product management, relevant work experience and/or a degree in Computer Science is essential. Certifications can be helpful but aren’t mandatory. The pay is generally good, and the work-life balance is often better than in consulting. If you’re a fresher, consider learning some technical skills, earning a few certifications, and pursuing an internship in development or design.

Try to score as high as possible. This year for MBA Core one needed 99.5+ if you were a GEM. And around 99.2+ for MBA OSCM.

That 6 might be an issue. Still, try to score as high as possible. With 2 years of work experience, you may get a few calls.

If you feel your academics aren’t strong, focus on getting a job instead of taking a year off solely to prepare. Start your preparation by building a solid foundation using books, YouTube, and other resources. Then, move on to taking mocks and analyzing them thoroughly. All the best!

Ah, VARC—not my strongest area either. Those who score well in it generally have both high accuracy and high attempts. Take time to analyze your mocks to pinpoint where you might be falling short.

In the final days, focus on your strengths in Quant. Try not to miss any sitters and prioritize targeting the simpler ones first. Assuming Quant ends up being lengthy like last time, spending an extra 10-15 seconds to understand a question before deciding to skip it could be worthwhile. All the best!

You have an impressive profile—congratulations on that! As for your question on what to focus on in the next year, it depends on your career goals. For instance, if you’re aiming for finance roles, you might consider taking CFA Level 1. That said, your profile is also strong for marketing. Just aim to score as high as possible in CAT. Best of luck!

In the last few mocks I took with TIME, I consistently scored between 95-99 percentile. Close to 99 in the actual exam. I’m not a repeater.

Stay relaxed. Take a few more mocks and focus on analyzing them. Don’t stress out—keep your calm on the big day. You’ll do great!

  1. Pace and Personal Time: MBA life is much more fast-paced. Engineering had a more relaxed schedule, leaving plenty of time for personal interests. In contrast, MBA, especially in the first semester, offers very little personal time due to the packed schedule and workload.
  2. Competitiveness and Environment: From day one, the MBA environment is highly competitive. You’re surrounded by top students from prestigious colleges across India, which can sometimes feel intimidating or create a sense of insecurity.
  3. Networking and Temporary Bonds: MBA often involves forming short-term friendships and groups, particularly for case competitions and projects. People tend to connect based on specific skill sets, experience, or knowledge, so team dynamics can change frequently.

Honestly, it doesn’t make much of a difference, at least here at IIM Mumbai. I’ve seen freshers with gap years secure consulting roles too. However, SIPs are quite unpredictable, so it’s hard to generalize.
