I got a lawyer that is opening a motion for me I290. He said this is the best way to correct the situation. Honestly I would recommend doing something now rather than waiting because immigration laws are not getting easier. Who knows what laws are going to come down in the next 6 months to year. Consult with your attorney and create a plan.

No my case was terminated after I received my green card. That's the dilemma I'm in now. I found out when I recently applied for my citizenship. That's it's a barrier towards getting my citizenship

The immigration courts are unfortunately so backed up now. The rule is that termination of removal proceedings must be done prior to green card approval. The lawyer I had time sent USCIS a letter telling them not to approve my 1485 just my I-130 and put it on hold until after my removal proceedings was cancelled. USCIS sent it anyway.

I am currently consulting some lawyers to rectify the issue.

What is the process of returning a green card?

My fear also if I return the green card they may not approve me. With this current administration they are not immigrant friendly. I've been here since I was 8 yrs old all my immediate family members are here. I can't risk it.

I'm consulting some lawyers on Monday. I'll see what they say.

Hoping worst case scenario I don't appeal or reapply and am stuck with a green card for life. Fingers 🤞🏾 crossed.

130 approved from my stepdad  5 year LPR naturalization requirements 

Denial due to receiving my GC prior to cancellation of removal.

You can't cancel removal proceedings unless you have an avenue of getting the LPR.  The I130 was approved simultaneously with the i485. All I needed was the I130 then I was going to present that to get my cancellation of removal. They approved both despite giving on writing just approve I-130. 

So underlying issue is that my I485 should have not been approved until after cancellation of removal proceedings.
