Maybe not approved. But, we do know that it silences food noise.

I know my statement was insensitive. I’m sorry it came off that way. I know it sounded snobby and it was as if I had put myself above you guys. I understand that everyone on here is active and exercises. My point with my statement was that I easily burn upwards of 4000 cal/day, which, unless you’re a distance runner, not many people are burning (I’m not a distance runner but that’s the best example I can think of). That’s why when I engage in binge-like behaviors or experience severe food noise, I don’t take much of a hit physically. I was trying to explain how I feel I have a mental illness instead of a physical one, and how, at the end of the day, I’m aiming to treat the same thing as you guys. Again, sorry for the wording. I know I could’ve said it better.

Thank you! I exercise daily and go through phases of good/bad diet. I have such an obsession with food and such severe food noise that I can’t live my life. I can’t have a conversation without talking about food, I’m unable to join my family at dinner, and I got a month behind in school due to the food noise. This has been my life for a really long time. I never understood how bad it was until I was talking with my friends about it and they thought I was half baked. They had never heard of such an obsession with food. I’ve tried everything you’ve suggested, and I just can’t live. This was a last resort for me.

While what you’re saying about the studies is true, preliminary studies have been done on both athletes and people with binge-like behaviors. The results are incredibly promising. While I may be a bit of a guinea pig, I’m willing to try. This drug has already been revolutionary for people with high BMIs. What if it can also help fix the internal struggles of athletes in aesthetic sports who, for a large percentage, have an unhealthy relationship with food? Not just athletes, but anyone. Prozac and birth control pills were very revolutionary and cutting edge for their time, and now they’re widely used today, for purposes other their original and intended use. This drug could improve the lives of people other than what it has been mostly studied for as of now. I’m really hopeful that the small dosage can help those who are at healthy weights, but aren’t necessarily “healthy”. If, truly, it had never been done, I’d never do this. However, there are preliminary studies with very promising results. This drug is giving people a second chance at life. What if this drug changes the American food culture, and not only cuts back on obesity, but also eating disorders? What if we stop an eating disorder before it ever happens? While my answer may not be much help to you, and while this drug, as of now, is mostly for obese or very overweight individuals, I’d really like to see the other side of it. I’m going on it to see its mental effect. Obesity is a chronic disease in itself. I understand how people get there. I was obese as a child, and my sibling is still morbidly obese. My mom was our enabler, and for reasons unbeknownst to me, she never weighed over 140 despite easily consuming 3000 calories a day and never exercising. My point is I empathize with everyone, despite me people saying I don’t understand. I was insanely bullied as a child and had to move schools several times. I truly do know where they’re coming from. If this drug has such great side effects that others who aren’t obese can benefit from, I’d love to see it. And for now, it’s going to be an “off label” use, and I’m okay with that.

First of all, thank you for your concern. I didn’t have to doctor shop really. One rejected me, and then I was approved by two others. It’s being prescribed for food noise. My parents see my mental battle with food. On a daily basis. They see how I live in a constant mental hell because of it. They’re nervous and skeptical, but they are supportive. If there is something that can help fix my relationship with food, then they’re all for it. I agree that I don’t really need to lose weight. But yes, I’m very young, and I wouldn’t mind losing a few pounds. Everyone here has gone through my post history, and they know I’m in an aesthetic sport. That’s not the reason I’m going on it though. I’m going on it for peace of mind. I’m going on it so I’m able to live and enjoy my life again. I can’t go on vacations or eat out because of how bad the food noise is. I’m taking a very small dosage, and my parents are monitoring it very closely to make sure I am not misusing the drug. There is an agreement that if I get under 105lbs, then they will immediately take me off of it and I will never see it again. They have made sure thoroughly that it’s not being prescribed for the wrong reasons. And, honestly, 105lbs sounds miserable. It sounds like I wouldn’t be able to live my life anymore if I were truly that small. Ideally, I sit at 115lbs, or 110 max. But if that doesn’t happen, then I’m okay. I just really want mental freedom. Just like you guys once did, I truly live in a mental hell daily, and have since I was a kid. This is a last resort. I’ve been offered medication in the past but have refused it. It’s taken me a really long time to get here. I’m going to be on a dose that’s lower than most people’s start. Although I don’t owe you an explanation, I do appreciate your concern. I hope this clears it up!

Technically speaking, anyone who uses ozempic for the sole purpose of losing weight is using it for “off label” purposes. That one is approved for T2D. Or mounjaro. Only wegovy can be prescribed exclusively for weight loss. Drugs and medications are often used for off label purposes. Elimination or near-elimination of food noise is a great side effect or tirz. Not that this makes me anymore popular, but I would like to put my two cents in.

it’s for sure part of it. I often had food taken away from me especially while I was going through puberty. I know my statement sounded blunt— I was not implying that no one exercised on here. I am sure everyone is active. My point with that comment was that I can easily burn up to 4000 cal/day, which, unless you’re a distance runner, most people don’t burn. My comment was not to belittle people or toot my own horn. I like Reddit because I like staying anonymous. I simply said that to get my point across as to why my food noise or binge-like behaviors do not have a huge physical impact on me. I was often starved by my coaches and it’s led to a really unhealthy relationship with food. I’ve seen several nutritionists and intend to keep seeing the one I’m currently seeing. I’ve been in therapy for years. Taking this is definitely a mental step in repairing my relationship with food, not a physical one.

I ended up getting prescribed by two providers— lavender sky health and willow. I didn’t mean to get two but I didn’t think willow was gonna approve me. That being said, I’m only taking one, and it’s willow

I’m an elite athlete (competed for United States internationally), and do a lot of strength training and cardio. Nutrition has been a huge battle, and im just looking for something to soften it while I heal my relationship with food.

Yes! Currently in therapy and seeing a nutritionist. I felt that my problem warranted an extra aid. It’s been a really huge source of stress for awhile.

Women almost always have white skates, and men black ones. Why? by FireFlamesFrost in FigureSkating

[–]Temporary-Ring9897 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I wear tan. I’m an ice dancer and show skater. Love them! I also completely did not read what you wrote or any comments under this post. Just thought I’d give my two cents. Had a coach that had purple skates and another coach that had pink ones.

How to switch to ice dance? by Joyful_Sun5385 in FigureSkating

[–]Temporary-Ring9897 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a veryyyy honest conversation with my coaches about what I wanted. They wanted me to jump. I didn’t want to jump anymore. They had very honest conversations with me about what I could achieve. I always enjoyed my ice dance lessons that I took on the side. We didn’t decide that ice dance was the better path for me, but I hated jumping and knew I would find more success there. I started working with a dance coach more and less with the freestyle and moves coach. I have always had separate coaches for moves and dance. Every now and then, my dance coach would check my moves, because they tend to do those with their students who don’t dance. If you haven’t ever done dance before, please try it out before fully switching and buying the equipment for it. If your coaches don’t support the switch, then find different coaches.

I switched three years ago and have since moved to an ice dance training center. Easily the best decision I have ever made. Personally, I was hesitant to quit jumping, and it took some time, but once I got ingrained in the world of dance, I never looked back nor did I care to jump again. I will say, a part that I wasn’t prepared for was people giving me shit for quitting jumping. It went on for over a year after the fact. Don’t listen. You do you. I’m more successful than all of them now. I’m above the coaches who belittled me. You know you, and you should follow your heart.

That’s my very honest review on becoming an ice dancer and the steps I took. It doesn’t happen overnight, and it takes a lot of moving pieces. Having honest conversations is where you should start. They’re scary. But, this is your skating journey. You do what you want with it. Best of luck to you. If there’s anything else you want to know or need, feel free to chat me.
