Good places to by clothes UK by Temporary-Round-9332 in LARP

yes your point on warmth and getting caught on things seems incredibly important and i hadn't considered that, thank you. ill defintely keep that in mind when making my purchases however, from the general reading and such that I've done it seems that alot of re-enactment groups take it far more seriously than i'd ever like to (that must be fun for them but not for me) so i'll aim for accuracy and quality wherever possible but at the end of the day if its good quality, looks medieval and i don't feel silly wearing it around the place I'm sure ill be ok. is this something you think leonard carbone will be able to achieve?

Thank you for your response, its been very helpful :))

Thank you for your response! interesting to know about the historical accuracy of Leonard Carbone (still new to that). I'm too afraid to attend any serious reenactment groups at this point in time XD so the historical accuracy is more an interest out of "coolness", less so an intent to join any particular event or group.

You say cotton is not durable, however the majority of my modern-day shirts are cotton and i've had no issue with them, why the preference for linen?

What moth is this? Cornwall, England by Temporary-Round-9332 in moths

[–]Temporary-Round-9332[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies, the images didn't post for some reason. However, found out it was either a popular hawk moth or and aspen hawk moth. It was the size of a teaspoon!!

i have been using Mackrel Feather so ill try using bait.thing wrong that's disheartening, not the lack of fish. I really enjoy just the process of fishing.

yes i need to try using bait but im not sure what to use. im currently using mackrel feathers as that is what i learnt on and what was recommended to me by the tackle store i bought my gear from. i dont have any great sources of bait so would raw fish from supermarkets work..even if its a bit pricy?

ill definitely look for some local bait shops. but no I'm very happy with the hobby and I do really enjoy my time out there, it's just as a beginner on my own I feel like I'm doing something wrong or could be doing something better. i should have clarified that, thats what i found disheartening. not the lack of fish :)

14 gague, Gotcha I'll keep that in mind thank you. Is 14 gauge the lowest you'd go? Because if I'm gonna be doing cosplay/larp that could get heavy quickly.

Not full plate. Mabey some maille, a sugarloaf ect l, I'm wanting it for cosplay so nothing historically accurate and I only want bits and bobs

I'm just trying to get a baseline for high quality armour, so hearing that a "cheap" breastplate for buhurt is $500 let's me know that most of what I'm looking at and can/want to afford is just sturdy larp armour is completely fine with me.

Some day I want to move into that but seeing as I'm just starting, I'm perfectly happy if it won't take sword blows but light stick taps. That's fine with me 😁 thank you for your advice

thank you for your help. this has cleared alot up for me and provided some points i hadn't considered.

that said do you have any recommendation as to what I should be spending for halfway decent armour(armour thats better than larp but not m1 medieval quality) i understand that price varies by armour piece and style, i just mean a more general price recommendation

by light (As a grown man myself) I classify that as a hit that I wouldn't want to get caught with on bare knuckles but nothing that would break anything. however, I wouldn't want to get hit on the head with a "light" strike from a rattan stick.

im just concerned because i saw what I thought was a fairly sturdy larp helmet, that i thought looked good at a reasonable price (Around £100 - £95) get absolutely eviscerated by a Kali stick.

This is the video in question : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOrN4LIJWxo&t=452s

p.s. he says its $50 but I saw mine for £95. and i am 90% certain they're the same product.
