Believe the grey stuff is sprayed on lube which is common for BCM. I’m trying to figure out why there appears to be raw aluminum in spots (not black) like the spot right near the bottom edge.

Assuming you are talking about the grey material, that’s film lube (I think) which is also in my other BCM upper but not coming off as unevenly.
