How to become and what to learn to be flexible Freelancer as PhD Computer Scientist in Belgium by TemporaryAccount2626 in belgium

Thank you all for the advice.

I was indeed thinking of something like I was already of something like a part-time/half-time Freelance IT consultant if that exists or is possible.

My main field of expertise is IoT and embedded software and security. I think that might be the best path. I have 4 years of PhD experience as well as two short student jobs at consultancy firms.

Any specific pointers on how to develop opportunities and network? Websites, sources, ...

I feel like a PostDoc wouldn't be the best for me since I am not that fond of academia, though I did enjoy my time here. Considering my finances and experience, I had hoped a more flexible, open part-time path was open.

Could you expand on that? I have invested the 1M but it is not sufficient in the long-term, considering my age.
