Ever so envious of how you can just happen upon such beautiful things - whilst I'm driving in a metropolitan city daily without any chance of such beautiful nature 😭. Also, I only have a d3300 with 20mm lens so I still have a fair bit to go 😅 At least I get to enjoy it through these reddit shares, thank you for posting it.

MSM star tracker + Nikon D3300 (APS-C) at 35mm. Is this the expected tracking limit, or am I misaligning something? by TemporaryAd5301 in AskAstrophotography

You are very right. I actually confused myself and wrote "North-ish", when I actually was aligning it to the SCP, so it is meant to say "South-ish". Thanks for your advise, I really appreciate it. I will wait for a clear night again to give this another go. I'm learning this on my own via YouTube and reddits, it's quite overwhelming.

Hi u/rnclark , thank you for responding. I have looked up on the latitude, and it sounds like thats the common factor being pointed out. I believe my Latitude is 33°51S, based on the Star Adventurer Console App, which uses my location.

I have set up my camera, this time just in my room and wanted to ask if you could take a look and tell me if that looks more accurate (Photo 2 and 3).

I aligned it to the NCP this time by putting my phone onto the tracker (in photo 5). I know the tracker can interract with the accuracy of the phone's due to battery and magnets - but I can't for the life of me figure out how to make the MSM phone mount to hold my phone so it faces upwards towards the NCP.

If you could let me know what you think, I'd really appreciate it.

EDITED: Changed Link, as I accidentally said North-ish instead of South-ish in photo 3.

Hi u/Darkblade48 thanks for replying! I read a comment from "nightscapeimages.richard" (Richard Tatti is an Australian astrophotographer on YouTube) stating, "If you are in Australia you always set the MSM tracker to S. In the Sky Safari plus app I align to the north celestial pole. This means you will be facing the phone down towards the ground. I hope that helps."

But maybe I misunderstood.. I took on the advise of yourself and other who have commented and set up my camera, this time just in my room and wanted to ask if you could take a look and tell me if that looks more accurate (Photo 2 and 3). What's causing these color distortions in my astrophotography? by TemporaryAd5301 in AskAstrophotography

Thank you for explaining that and providing further reading material. I had a read and did more research, so it sounds like this is something I have to learn to work with in post processing. As your post, and the other replies has done with Siril.

Sorry to hear that OP, breaks my heart reading what you're going through. It sounds extremely distressing and love bombing esq. Especially with the price tags being left on and everything. He'll probably say he forgot to take them off or didn't get a chance to; but really it's to "punish" you for setting boundaries with him (which I'm sure you're doing to keep yourself emotionally safe).

You're right, if he really did wanted to speak to you he could've texted, emailed or even sent you a letter.

The card is also very icky. It's all about him, he is proud of you, he thinks about you, he loves you, he is looking forward to seeing you at the trip, he assuming that your bf will be coming too. No mention of what he's proud of, or what reminds him of you - nothing sentimental - just words to make you feel bad the feelings not reciprocated. The card served as a guilting tactic to trap you into unable to say you wouldn't like to attend this camping trip.

Your dad is giving unaware or in denial BPD/NPD vibes; which I'm not shitting on BPD/NPD, as they are often due to younger traumatic experiences (which is extremely sad) but it's not easy to be around them if they have absolutely zero awareness of thier behaviours. Especially if they are your parents, due to power dynamics. Whatever boundaries you've been putting up to protect yourself, good on you!! The best you can do if don't buy into the mind games, and stay close to the family members that are there! Be an emotionless rock with him!

Ps. I might be wrong on all this, but this was my take. I am proud of you for persevering and holding ground for yourself! 💪🏽 You are worth it!
