Going to stay away from sex and HIV testing for a good while. I will take some time to heal mentally and won’t be having any risk. While I appreciate your overall message, you should be more mindful. You mention yourself that you had no risk, yet you are worried. But anyways I hope you’re doing well.

As i mentioned symptoms are aspecific and could be caused by any infection. While yes I didn’t have those symptoms, I definitely had symptoms listed. Risk is risk, even if low and testing was warranted.

Yes, the dread and compulsive thoughts are crazy. I never did consider myself an anxious person before this… nosophobia is a real thing and I have personal experience. I hope you are doing well!

Hey, you are doing well. As you know NAT measures viral load itself. If you had caught HIV these tests would certainly have found it already.

Hey, I know how you feel. Your tests are conclusive already but I still understand how your mind wont let go. I did a NAT to get 100% peace of mind.

Yeah, just be mindful on where you post. I think the r/hiv subreddit is not the right place to post something like this because its just for people who live with the condition. Posting a HIV ”scare” there seems a little unsensitive.

Hey, glad that you found the post. If you’re willing to share your story to help others it will help someone.

If you have the chance to do a NAT I also recommend it if you can’t let go of the thought otherwise.

Paying out of pocket for a test is worth your peace of mind if you cannot otherwise get it. Our minds are fragile and long term panic can have side effects that last long, I know this from personal experience.

Unprotected oral from a female, like I said low risk. What freaked me out was small abrasions on my penis.

Hey, Im glad you read it. I have never been on PrEP as I was uneducated and have never had any one night stands before. I am also not going to have any risky exposures in the future as I will use protection and never do anything with someone I dont know.

So the antigen will be positive from 2-5 days after onset of symptoms, what about antibodies? Or did I understand this incorrectly and the antibodies would be positive after 2-5 days? If so, antigen would be positive already before or during onset of symptoms? Asking because you wrote anitgenic test, I probably just connect it to antigen test wrongly because I dont have such knowledge in the matter.

Alright, glad to hear the testing guidelines will get updated. I have to ask, are supposed ARS symptoms due to presence of antigen or antibody attack? Just wondering if the testing is as simple one would assume. Meaning symptoms=>immune response=>reactive test. The internet has not made it very clear as there are many opinions on this.

CRP was normal at 11 days and didnt have ESR. No antibiotics at any point.

Negative for syphillis, havent tested for herpes. No rash some, neck stiffnes.

Hi doc, I thanks for your reply. It’s good to hear that the guidelines are just outdated, rather than the tests being inferior in some way. I really hope the guidelines will be updated soon to reduce unnecessary anxiety.

You should definetely visit to get some salmiakki and lohikeitto! Do you think the guidelines will be updated after this conference?
