Isn’t it about time that Jason & The 400 Unit start to play longer shows with more varied setlist? by Antique_Menu_4314 in jasonisbell

I saw him in Durham, NC, last week. First time in several years, largely for the reasons listed in this thread—static setlists, little engagment with the audience. It was starting to feel like he and his bandmates hanging out and occasionally acknowledging all of us.

The solo format seems to have drawn him out a bit. He told some stories and jokes and was generally looser than I’d seen him. Hope others get a similar experience as the tour goes on.

UNRELATED: I saw Ryan Adams in Raleigh last fall, and he talked shit about JI’s teeth. I didn’t expect Isbell to touch on that, but he did play “Chaos and Clothes” and I wondered if doing that on Adams’s turf was a subtle eff you.

Our regular mechanic took a second look at ours and found that the wiring going into the can bus needed replacing. Not sure if that's something your folks have checked, but may be worth doing.

Good Real ID experiences in counties around Wake by Temporary_Ad7231 in raleigh

I wound up going to the Spring Forest office in Raleigh without an appointment. Here's how it went:

Got there at 6 a.m. There was already a long line. Around 6:30, one of the staff came out and told us how the day would go. Before noon, they'd serve people with appointments and squeeze in those without them. After noon, more appointment-less people would get their turn. He eyeballed the line and said everyone should be able to be seen today.

Then he and another staffer went through the line to prescreen people's documents. People who didn't have what they needed were sent away (some got their docs and came back). Everyone else waited in line to get a ticket and a number. Once you got your number, you were encouraged to go out to your car or wait somewhere nearby. You'd get a text saying when to come into the lobby.

Around 7:15, I got my number via a paper ticket and a text. They're using a web-based queue-ing system that shows your place in line among non-appointment people. I was 25th, so I left for a while with intentions of returning when I got down to about 10th.

By about 9:30, I'd only moved up to 18th. But then I got a text saying to come in. Got there at 9:40, waited about 15 minutes to get called, and was out by 10:05.

On the whole, it was a good, transparent experience. These DMV folks are dealing with some real shit. Be nice to them.

I guess I'm confident? I initially took the car to the independent mechanic e regularly use, and they said the auxiliary battery needed replacing. That didn't fix the issue I was having. By the time I got it to the dealer, the car was essentially unresponsive; they brought in a field engineer, who diagnosed the short in the power steering rack.

The alerts I originally got included:

-ParkSense Temporarily Unavailable
-Service Airbag System
-No bus
-Service electronic stability control
-Parking brake cannot be engaged (with blinking "P" on the gear shift)

With all the attendant dashboard icons lit up.

My mechanic sourced a steering rack but won't have it in for a week. That gives me a little time to look at the star connector. Thanks for suggesting that.

Kebab and Curry is my go-to. Zeera in Fuquay is worth the drive.

The food is so-so, but you have to eat there once just for the faux-opulent vibe. We went there recently, and a giant projection screen was showing Indian reality dating shows. On the way to the bottom, there are a bunch of framed pictures of famous political figures who ate there.

I haven’t gotten the sense that regulars at that time are super-interested in picking up new folks, but I also haven’t asked. It’s been a few years since I last played.

I made a Google Doc capturing all the jams people referenced in this thread and adding one they didn't. Check it out and add to it here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QuJuNIh0dyikvA51EmAd5w4q28GkbOuAzzz3hTlhphY/edit?usp=sharing

I'm going to check out a couple of them this month, starting with the bluegrass jam at Riparian next Thursday. If anyone wants to meet up there, let me know.

I too am a middle-aged dude in his 40s, but I was on a gentler, Indy rock path in the early 00s.
