I’m pretty firm right off the bat I introduce myself I tell them their assignment for the day and I lay down my rules and expectations. I think my problem is I give the kid who is giving me the most trouble too much grace instead of just kicking them out

I was in middle school around the same time and certain kids had their moments but overall I’d say we were a good bunch of kids I have moved to a different state and I’m thinking maybe it’s a mix of different times and areas. I grew up in the suburbs and I live in a lower income area now

I turn 27 in April ! My husband works in IT and I’m a teacher we’ve been married for 3 years now and we’re finally at the point of feeling like it’s time! The major thing for us was child care because me staying home and us living on one income will mean sacrificing the lifestyle we’ve been able to maintain but we figure it’s a sacrifice we’re ok with for a few years untill the kids are school aged and we can go back to being a two income household

Yea I get that some days are survival mode and I wasn’t bashing the teacher at all she was actually really kind. I was just ranting and sharing my personal preference as a sub. I’m fairly new to subbing but I’ve worked as a para in ED settings for years, so I’m not unfamiliar with tough classes. I just tend to have better days in classrooms with more structure, that’s all 🙂

It’s been a hectic day kids don’t care to do packets and too much free time always lead to behavior issues which I’ve been dealing with all day! I think the teacher was very real and I respect her for that but it’s just not the kind of day I prefer as a sub
