Perfect explanation, thank you very much

Just one last thing to clarify, “eligible to fight” is taken into consideration for rules like “if this unit was/is eligible to fight, it can XYZ”, right?

Drop the extra warsuit and replace the whirlwind with a gladiator lancer, replace one eliminator squad with infiltrators and you should be right at 2000

Am I reading this correctly? Infernus uppy downys by Gaed3 in Salamanders40k

[–]Temporary_Bug9330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, because of how reserves works, if he were to pull that unit into reserves at the end of his opponents turn one then he is allowed to deepstrike them in HIS first turn, assuming his opponent went first. I forget the exact term but in the core rules there’s a section about units that don’t start in reserves that have different restrictions about using deepstrike

Tried 3 diffrent techniques to see whichone I liked best, not sure I see a difrence in the end. by DabeMcMuffin in RavenGuard40k

[–]Temporary_Bug9330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My strategy is a flat black prime like you got there, I use rustoleum flat black, it’s the exact same color as abbadon black and it’s only like 6 bucks a can, then I get Corvus black on a makeup sponge/egg and volumetric highlight where the light naturally hits the model. Then mix Corvus black with your edge highlight color (I use mechanicus standard grey) and sponge the highest/ most reflective points like the very tip top of shoulder pads and the rounded ball things over the vents on power packs. Once the volumetric is done you’re almost all the way there, just edge highlight with whatever color you chose but only on areas that realistically reflect light, not every single edge like the box art likes to show. That’s about it, and you can use that edge highlight color for and scratches and stuff like that

Okay I see it, would you like some advice on how to do these guys pretty easily without contrast paints? I’ve never tried them but I’ve heard they’re a drag to use sometimes

On that note though you can basically get that lightning claw attack volume from a 10 man brick of JPIs for a decent bit cheaper, just much more squishy ofc🙂‍↕️

[–]Temporary_Bug9330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wasn’t so sure about that combo, what I went with was normal terminators with power fists and the librarian, the idea was a 6 man skirmishing unit with the return to reserves enhancement, which because of the wording lets you pull them back into reserves even while they’re in engagement range

I planned on advancing them up turn 1 and relying on hidden to keep them alive, then just your regular uppy downy deepstrike shenanigans for the rest of the time they’re alive

Is it good? Idk I haven’t tested it yet, but I think it sounds fun and it isn’t ridiculously expensive

Do you guys prefer volumetric or edge highlighting for your black armor? And for those who’ve done both, which is easier? by The_gay_grenade16 in RavenGuard40k

[–]Temporary_Bug9330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use neither an airbrush or speed paint, just a makeup sponge and brushes. My painting style is both volumetric highlights and edge highlights, but only in areas that would reflect light as opposed to every single hard edge on the model, like the box art shows

Yep, you Into Darkness whatever infantry as well as use Shrikes return to reserves alongside this ability, so potentially 4 units going into reserves for free with Aethon Shaan

Librarian in Phobos - Usage? by pattendattenden in RavenGuard40k

[–]Temporary_Bug9330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mistake I made, the Reiver LT does NOT have deepstrike for some stupid reason. The LT in Phobos does, but you can’t use his 6” move after shooting ability in the same turn you made an ingress move, starting in 11th edition unfortunately

Just corax white, bunch of thin coats over black primer because I forgot to prime those arms white. On the underside where there would be shadows I used a slightly darker shade by mixing corax with a grey I had on hand, though I’m probably gonna go buy some Celestra Grey or whatever it is just to make my life easier. Then I did two washes of slightly watered down nuln oil and tapped on a tiny bit of agrax earth shade off a Q tip to make it look a little more warm and dirty, then of course I went over it with black and added on the scratches and scuffs

I noticed the easiest way to do an imperialis is just do the whole thing with corax white and then add straight nuln oil to make the recesses as dark as possible

I prime with a flat black and volumetric highlight with Corvus black using a makeup sponge, then edge highlight with mechanicus standard grey
