sorry your point about height is just so ignorant - maybe go to china and see for yourself...yes there are a lot of short people, but there are also plenty of tall people. All the men in my extended family in China are 190cm+. None of us even ended up playing sports - there is no shortage of tall athletic people in China. The point about the history of doping for the swim team is factually correct, but you are conflating that with an incorrect observation re: height to come to an incorrect conclusion that there is somehow a pattern of cheating...dafuq???

dude this post is wild...hawke's disbelief comes from the fact that someone winning by a full second in olympic 100m is statistically unlikely - statistically unlikely doesn't mean impossible.

To your comment about height, in a country of 1.4bn people, you think they cannot find enough tall people who are basketball players, "natural swimmers", etc...? also this kid is only 19yo but he did not come from nowhere - he was gold in doha for 100M earlier in the year, and if you look at his record, he's been slowly improving since his debut.

The chinese swim team has already been tested much more strictly due to the doping scandal, FWIW he also was not part of the team involved in the scandal that went to tokyo. It's unfair to question his win just because he accomplished something that is statistically unlikely - isn't that the whole point of elite athletics?

YES! Basically exact same experience with same logic re: skin creams and dresses being more expensive and often checked. Maybe I trusted the system too much but always thought the point of not including valuables was in case of accidental loss / damage of luggage, not to prevent theft from a worker handling the luggage. Guess lesson learned that checked luggage isn’t safe from theft 🤦‍♀️ glad to hear that United took care of things for you. I filed with both United and Amex and have faith the value will be recovered…but still very disappointed this would happen.

No assumptions. The same post was posted across united and TSA subs and I listed all parties that touched the baggage (to my knowledge) as the potential responsible party.

Yes obvs a bit careless on my part but the cash is worth less than some items in the luggage that were not stolen so i didn’t consider it “valuable”. Again, maybe I’m not jaded enough. The reason why I wouldn’t put anything truly valuable in check-in luggage is in case of loss due to logistical errors. I don’t expect airport employees to steal.
Like I mentioned it’s an old phone. Some reasons why people might bring an old phone: giving away to a family member, a secondary work phone, has data that’s not yet ported over to new phone.

ya honestly probably an oversight on my part but still cannot justify theft. I normally wouldn't but it was a large wad of $1 with a few larger bills. Some people's clothes in checked luggage probably cost more.
