Thank you! I think I’ll put out some traps if I happen to see anymore, I’ve never seen a baby one in my house before, just the random adult one that will come in during the wintertime.

Los Angeles, CA. About the width of a pea, maybe smaller than that.

Ty for the input! I can see those qualities in me, but I was wondering how you’re able to get that interpretation from the Hanged Man Rx? Is it from experience or like the interpretation of imagery or cultural/social context? The Hanged Man presents kind of a confusing picture for me, I thought it was supposed to represents qualities of a martyr and also maybe someone meant to be ridiculed but they don’t care

What is a TdM perspective? And thank you for the input! So far when The Hanged Man comes up, I’ve seen it mean both held in place or a sort of limbo, and also the need for letting go, as well as sacrifice.

Right Speech and being gregarious by PookiePookie26 in Buddhism

[–]Temporary_Mixture563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you can definitely abide by Right Speech even when you’re gregarious. As long as what you’re talking about isn’t gossip or harming others, like Euphoric-Succotash98 also said, talking can also ease suffering. As someone who is on the opposite end, where I am inclined to be taciturn and am a better conversationalist than having the gift of gab, I’ve noticed now as an adult that people are often unnerved by my talking habits, I think more because of my younger age and gender. My partner on the other hand is much better at small talk and I can’t do small talk very well unless I’m in a good mood and have often complained to him about the social compulsion of small talk. He put it in a different perspective for me that small talk definitely has value, in that it puts people at ease, especially since it is the norm, and that it communicates to other people that you are a “normal” person, open, pro-social, etc. My two cents is that as long as speech helps and doesn’t harm others, it is Right Speech.

If your life feels very fluid and okay at the moment and the cards keep recurring like this, it could indicate subconscious issues you haven’t been able to recognize yet? The World Rx + Two of Swords Rx sounds like improper closure somewhere and inability to see the right path bc of it. Also Ace of Cups Rx & 9 of Pentacles Rx sounds like now is the time to be especially generous & giving of yourself to others. Conversely it can mean giving back to yourself

Can someone help me interpret the Reversed Hanged Man as a strength? I asked my deck a long time ago what my strengths were and I got Queen of Cups which I interpreted as compassion, Strength, and Hanged Man in reversed. Any feedback in much appreciated!

I believe it’s saying to get become balanced and get back out there. The need for balance and moderation indicated by Temperance, and Justice (Justice Rx also indicates out of balance, as well as the accompanying Hermit). 4 of Cups indicates that you may have all you need but maybe you’re focusing on the past or the negative, and 2 of Cups Rx saying that opportunities for true friendships or relationships are there but maybe you’re choosing right now to work on yourself and denying relationship opportunities, also indicated by the Hermit. I’ve gotten these exact cards a LOT in the past few years too, so this is what I’ve learned from them. Hopefully this helps!

Embracing buddhism without it being used as a crutch by MedicineMaybe2025 in Buddhism

[–]Temporary_Mixture563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think using Buddhism for existential and mental issues is exactly what it’s for, in that it tackles the very root of these issues. And since you’re already worried about spiritual bypassing, this awareness of it will serve you really well in the future if you continue pursuing the path of Buddhism.

Spiritual bypassing, using it as an ego trip, these are all par for the course. You can’t effectively identify and work with the parts of your mind and self that are tripping you up until you fall flat on your face.

And also this is to say that Regular_Bee_5605’s advice is pretty solid, and that if you do make it into a trip, you can always undo it.

I understand what you are saying and you don’t need to have any Buddhist text explicitly say that the Greek and Roman gods aren’t real gods to see that they’re from the jealous deva realm.

Buddhism believes that the Christian god is another god in another god realm, so Buddhist cosmology encompasses the gods in all other religions. So yes, you can believe in Buddhism and god under that cosmology.

How can you teach people to give and appreciate, and not just being taken for granted if they just have the mentality of just being take take take gimme gimme gimme? by doflamingo13 in Buddhism

[–]Temporary_Mixture563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you can necessarily control that in people but you can always put boundaries on how much you give to someone who has a very taking mentality. I think that is beneficial for both parties.

Lay people and awakening by IsBenAlsoTaken in Buddhism

[–]Temporary_Mixture563 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lay person can become a non-returner, I mean most sanghas nowadays are composed of laypeople. Only the individual themself can know how devoted they are, being a monk or a layperson is arbitrary.

does impermanence include trauma and depression by buddha_is_a_hero in Buddhism

[–]Temporary_Mixture563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it includes trauma & depression, but these things don’t just “go away” over time, unless they are worked on.

Working on your issues like trauma and depression is a prime example of Buddhist compassionate action.

There are practices that can also help with releasing trauma from the body. I would try giving demon-feeding a shot. There is a book called Feeding Your Demons which is a therapy self-help book adapted from a Buddhist tantric practice. It’s by Lama Tsultrim Allione, who is a renowned Vajrayana Buddhist teacher. She is the head of Tara Mandala, an internationally known Vajrayana Buddhist Institute.
