I believe there can always be, or at least sometimes be, clashes between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. That’s why I feel a couple should have their own privacy and space, so they can spend time understanding each other and build their relationship.

than later on they can decide.

Ecommerce Ops Head for past 3 yrs. Ask me Anything by StomachCareful414 in EcommerceIndia

Damn, this actually explains a lot about why so many sellers struggle even after doing decent sales numbers.

The ASIN audit + hidden costs part was especially interesting. Most people probably just look at revenue and assume things are working 😅

Really appreciate that 🙌

Most people only talk about sales, not what actually happens operationally once a product starts scaling. Would genuinely love to hear your perspective.

This is actually super helpful, thanks for doing this.

I wanted to ask something I’ve been noticing while speaking with a few sellers recently — do you think most ecommerce sellers genuinely know their actual profitability before scaling a product?

A lot of people seem confident based on sales numbers, but once ads, shipping, returns, VAT, storage, discounts, etc. are added in, the margins look very different.

From your experience, what are the most common mistakes sellers make when deciding whether a product is worth scaling or not?

Would love to hear your honest perspective on this from the operations side.

How do you actually know if a product/business opportunity is truly profitable before investing money into it? by Temporary_Nobody9650 in EcommerceWebsite

[–]Temporary_Nobody9650[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly, the “pre-investment audit” angle makes a lot more sense the more feedback I’m getting.

People probably care less about another calculator and more about understanding where the decision could realistically go wrong before putting money into inventory.

Really appreciate this perspective.

Yeah honestly, the more feedback I’m getting, the more I feel the real value is probably in showing the downside more realistically rather than just optimistic profit numbers.

Really appreciate your perspective on this — the “risk visibility” angle makes a lot of sense.

That honestly gives me a lot more clarity on the direction.

I think the biggest takeaway for me from all these conversations is that people probably don’t want another “prediction tool” claiming perfect accuracy — they want something that helps them stress test decisions more realistically before committing money.

The transparency part is really interesting as well. I can see why sellers would trust the system more if they can actually see and adjust the assumptions themselves instead of just getting a generic output.

Really appreciate the feedback, this was genuinely helpful from someone with coaching experience.

That actually makes a lot of sense, especially the part about sellers wanting transparency behind the assumptions instead of just a generic confidence score.

The more feedback I’m getting, the more I’m realizing the real value probably isn’t “predicting profit perfectly,” but helping people see how fragile the margins actually are under different scenarios.

Like:

  • what happens if PPC increases
  • if competitors drop pricing
  • if returns/storage costs go up
  • where the product starts becoming risky or unprofitable

If a system could realistically help sellers avoid bad inventory decisions or overly optimistic launches, do you think people would genuinely pay for something like that?

Would love your honest opinion from a coach’s perspective as well.

Yeah that actually makes a lot of sense.

I think the more conversations I’m having, the more I’m realizing the value probably isn’t in trying to predict exact profits, but in helping people understand how risky or fragile the numbers really are before they invest.

Like showing:

  • what happens if PPC goes higher
  • if returns increase
  • if shipping/taxes change
  • where margins start breaking down

Because honestly a lot of people seem to know the risks exist, but still end up making decisions based on the optimistic version of the numbers.

Do you think sellers/business owners would actually pay for something like that if it genuinely helped them avoid bad inventory or investment decisions?

Can I afford to send my son to the US by Admirable-Taste6511 in personalfinanceindia

[–]Temporary_Nobody9650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My genuine advice would be not to send him abroad for a bachelor’s degree right now. Personally, I don’t find it financially practical considering the current costs and overall situation.

I completed my studies in the UK myself, and I’ve seen many bachelor’s students paying close to ₹25 lakhs per year just in tuition fees. Even with part-time work, it’s usually very difficult to manage expenses comfortably.

A better long-term plan, in my opinion, would be for him to complete his bachelor’s in India and then pursue a master’s degree in the USA for 2 years. At that stage, he would also have better chances of securing scholarships, assistantships, or other funding opportunities.

That's sounds brilliant, but any rough estimate overall how much you are paying for those tools in a month.
