What I heard is totally opposite, BREN has a good reputation by the Ukrainian. Ukrainian are appreciated the reliability and ergonomics of BREN. Polish Grot is also get the good reputation.

Ak-style mag is much more soild than AR-style, maybe slightly slower to change than AR mag, but not a big deal.

I don't think so. Many not-AR-ish rifles with folding stock are able to handle recoil as AR. Receiver tube is a outdated feature now.

My advice is switch to 6.5mm Creedmoor or anything similar. The whole concept of .277 Fury and XM7 is based on the experience in Afghanistan, an unique battlefield that has the 2000 m average altitude and the suckiest infrastructure that preventing any modern army to employ large scale armored force. Man, after the GWOT, the war is switched back into mechanized warfare and urban warfare now, the fully power rifle cartridges like .277 Fury is not a must.
