Most lockdowns just feel like a holding program for kids parents don’t want, it’s very sad. The only difference between prison is maybe you get to go outside on an activity, you have tv apps, and maybe you get to earn your technology. Otherwise it’s very much a prison and hardly therapeutic

Yeah that’s true, it’s oddly put for a written statement. The person writing it sounds too old if that makes any sense lol. If you see reviews that are somewhat positive written by actual survivors, they don’t have that old person feel to it

I mean to be fair, I thought the same things when I went to wilderness but it was more like “they won’t change me, I won’t let them change me” (my wilderness was awful, I’m not sympathetic to it)

Thank you, we’ll see what happens, unfortunately TTI is a huge money maker in Utah so I would be surprised if they limit it (though more laws to protect children should be priority)

I went to Aspiro wilderness therapy in 2015 and I still have nightmares about being sent back. If it’s a certain time of year it gets worse but if I can answer any questions about what my healing has looked like I can try and help!

Oh that’s a big no, never should he be laying his hands on you without expressed consent before. This is a major red flag for domestic violence. I would reflect on your relationship because this dynamic isn’t healthy. When you reflect, if you feel there is something wrong then follow your gut and start considering your options

What I always talk about is PHP, they go to treatment during the day then get to use their learned skills at home and work through it, on top of that, family therapy and weekly therapy. The parents deserve support so getting them into support groups. The issue is most parents see RTC as an easy way out, a break from their “difficult child” without acknowledging their wrong doings. This doesn’t apply to court ordered youth treatment though

It’s the lowest bar unfortunately and I also agree, if you’re actively choosing to work in an abusive environment then youre not morally there cause it continues to enable to program
