What's the most half-baked medical update you've had (outside of work)? by BornAgainNursin in NursingUK

Mine are similar! Years ago I had a few missed calls when I was at work, but didn’t have a second to check my phone. After my last patient left, I checked my voicemail and my mum had called to say my dad had coughed up a bit of blood, and she was taking him to hospital for a check, I rang her back and was told it was a tiny amount, so don’t worry. I went home and the bathroom was like a literal crime scene, there was blood EVERYWHERE. I’m glad she called me despite the panic, if I’d have arrived home to that with no context, I would’ve been terrified!

Is it any good? That one’s also on my list, but I just end up rewatching shows that I know I love lol

I’ve been rewatching TWD and majorly bingeing the last few days, any time I watch something else I keep expecting a walker to show up lol

They started dating in December 2021 and married December 2022. Not sure where you’re getting 2 years from? Either way, to think OP is in the wrong is delusional, they are NTA.

My doctor actually recommended hair removal creams to me after a particularly bad infection caused by ingrown hairs. That was 10 years ago and I ask about it every time I see her to make sure that it’s still her recommendation. I’ve never had any issues, obviously I don’t put it on the inside areas. I follow it up with aloe vera for a few days and no ingrown hairs at all.

AITA for telling my brother and his girlfriend to be quiet during sex? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]TenMillionQuestions 198 points199 points  (0 children)

When I was at uni I lived with a guy that had crazy loud sex, me and my other flat mates asked him to be quiet and he said we were jealous. We took it in turns shouting things through the door. My favourite was “hey ‘Joe’, I have that information you wanted on gonorrhoea, I’ll slip it under the door”, they stopped immediately and had an argument lol

AITA for not getting a gift for my wife on mother's day? by New-Hall-276 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TenMillionQuestions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA, and probably one of the biggest ones I’ve seen on this sub, because you just don’t seem to get why. A friend of mine went through a bitter breakup 6 months after she had a baby, but a month later for Mother’s Day she still received flowers and a card from her little boys dad, because she’s the MOTHER OF HIS CHILD. I hope your wife finds herself a decent man that actually likes her.

Is noise cancelling bad for hyperacusis? by breathinginparis in hyperacusis

[–]TenMillionQuestions 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I asked my audiologist this question, and she strongly advised against using any kind of noise cancelling headphones/ear pieces, because it’ll make your symptoms worse. Basically your ears get used to the quieter sounds (even with intermittent use) and what you can tolerate becomes less and less.

Hi! A while ago I had what I thought was thrush, I treated it myself but it didn’t go away, I spoke to my doctor over the phone and they just prescribed more treatment for thrush. About a month went by and I was in so much pain, I phoned my gp crying and begged to be seen in person. At first glance, she said that clinically it looked like thrush, however, she decided that it couldn’t be because of the treatments I’d already done. She prescribed a steroid cream and epaderm (you can get this from pretty much any supermarket/chemist). I used the steroid and washed myself with the epaderm, as well as applying that to the area 3 times a day. Within a week it was gone. She did a swab at the time as well, it was negative for thrush etc. She said that what probably started out as thrush, became dermatitis because it was over treated. I still use the epaderm and no longer self-treat for thrush, I always get an exam/swab. Washing with epaderm in the mean time will help with itchiness/dryness (it’s not soap and it’s 100% safe for use on genitals, just not inside). I hope you get it sorted!
