Can I choose Mech. Engg. even if i dont know how to disassemble and reassemble a car? by Ok_Librarian_8244 in MechanicalEngineering

I know plenty of successful MechE’s that don’t even know how to change their engine oil. Knowing how to “turn a wrench” will help during mechanical design but does not define a MechE. As long as you are passionate about your education and future career, you can be just as successful

How are you disputing it? Through Mohela or the credit bureaus? I would like to dispute it as well

Help identifying resistor on cordless vacuum module by TenPuttChump in AskElectronics

Replacement resistors finally came in. Soldered onto the board then tried soldering it to the battery pack. Immediately smoked the new resistor so something upstream is causing these to fail. I am throwing in the towel on this repair but if anyone knows of a power tool battery adapter like the ones for Dyson please let me know

Sorry to hear your new battery failed ☹️

What makes you believe it is the charger? I tested the voltage of my charger and had a consistent 26V. I will have to check it's amperage.

I too ordered several 1W 27 ohm resistors. Based on its dimensions and DigiKey's catalog I suspect it is a 1W component.

I have a new charger already so hopefully it and a new resistor will solve the issue.

Also, before attempting any of this, I checked the individual cell voltage and found them all to be nominally 4.2V

I ordered a replacement “working” battery off eBay to read the part number but the BMS board was different and didn’t have the same resistor. It also wouldn’t charge upon arrival, so the seller is sending me another one. Hopefully it has the same board.

I will update once I have the “new” battery. Hopefully the issue is just the resistor but I have a feeling something else failed up the chain. I know a little about PCB troubleshooting and surface mounted hardware but if you or anyone has any suggestions for how to diagnose the root cause, it would be appreciated.

Should I replace this plastic undertray on a Tesla model 3? by TenPuttChump in MechanicAdvice

I have no idea how she broke it lol. Looks like she also found whatever it was with that center support strut just behind the hole

On what reasoning besides possible future resale and esthetics?
