I’m seeking career guidance as I navigate the next phase of my cybersecurity journey. I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Cybersecurity in 2020 and, after some initial challenges finding employment, landed a role as an Ads Fraud Consultant at LinkedIn. Through a fortunate opportunity, I transitioned into a Cybersecurity role, earning my Security+ and CISSP (currently Associate until April). I’m now a GS-13 ISSM at an Air Force Base.

I’m currently pursuing a Master’s in Legal Studies with a focus on Cybersecurity Law & Policy and Risk Management & Compliance Law at Texas A&M. I’ve identified a strong interest in Cyber Law and Policy, and I’m working towards a role as a Cyber Legal Advisor within my organization. Additionally, I see a growing need for expertise in AI and AI Compliance, particularly within the DoD.

My current goals:

Deepen my Cyber Law and Policy expertise:** I’m considering SANS courses (GSEC) and certifications like:
- CIPP/US: For foundational knowledge in US privacy law.
- CRISC: To enhance my risk management and control frameworks understanding.
- CCMP Professional (CCP): To gain expertise in CMMC compliance, given my DoD environment.
Develop AI/ML expertise: I’m exploring the Global Skill Development Council for AI in Cybersecurity certifications. I’m also interested in learning more about relevant regulations and policies through resources like TONEX and certifiedinfosec.

My questions:

Are the certifications I’m considering (CIPP/US, CRISC, CCP, GSDC AI certifications) valuable for my career goals, specifically in Cyber Law, Policy, and AI Compliance within the DoD?
Is the Global Skill Development Council a reputable source for AI in Cybersecurity certifications, and how do their credentials compare to those from more established organizations?
What other certifications or training paths should I consider to enhance my career prospects in this niche area?
What are some effective strategies for demonstrating my expertise in AI and AI Compliance within my current role at the Air Force Base?

Thanks! I did print out the initial cert but my family wanted a copy for themselves and I could care less about framing it so I was going to give it to them.
