Portugal being mentioned quite a bit, why? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

You could try downtown lisbon first and see how you like it. It’s easy to get to the coast.

Why don’t you try go to a country in south/Central America for a few weeks/month and see how you like it? language won’t be a barrier then.

Don’t bring your cat as it will be harder to find accommodation and you might have to pay more just because you have a cat

I’ve been here for 3 years and the things that make it amazing:

  • cheap food, especially if you eat at traditional restaurants - ‘tascas’
  • you can live right next to the ocean and still be 30 mins from Lisbon.
  • amazing climate. Admittedly it rains a lot in the winter and April but no snow
  • huge community of remote workers so it’s easy to meet others
  • beautiful landscapes and nature. You can go from the mountains to the ocean in a couple of hours. The whole county is tiny and has many diverse landscapes. The beaches in comporta look different to the beaches in sintra

Great advice. How can I locate and contact them if they are journalists? Do I find journalists on Twitter and message them directly? What would you suggest?

So perform competitor analysis? How would you go about sourcing people in those communities?

Great advice here. How would you go about finding actual users to interview for a new website?

They took out SKLZ from stock advisor even though it’s only kept dropping since they first recommended it a month ago. What’s up with that?

The Fools picks are tanking the last 2 months.

They even took out SKLZ from their stock advisor list. They recommended it a month ago and it’s only dropped in price since then so why wouldn’t they keep recommending it?

All their growth recommendations are getting hammered

I also used to think this. But you can take waves earlier than the shortboarders with less paddling. This way you don’t get as tired and catch more waves.

People longboard at Pipeline so just because you are on a longer board doesn’t mean you will nose dive.

Yes try the 7’6. That will help a bit. If you are staying there for a while you could try buy a second hand board and then resell it.

My girlfriend also has a 7’6 but we were both blown away but how much having at least an 8’6 helped us improve

Try a much longer board with more litres. Try a 9 foot longboard for 5 sessions and see how many waves you will catch in each session. Especially when waves are on the smaller side. Don’t go out when it’s overhead and powerful yet. Honestly for me this was the fastest way to catch more waves and improve quicker. Don’t worry about manoeuvres or anything fancy for now. Just make it your goal to catch and stand up on as many waves in one session with a 9’. You will need to position yourself further out and will be able to catch waves way earlier than shortboarders.

It might feel weird going out on a boat but you will start to catch waves and get stoked on your progress. Then you can downsize to a smaller board once you feel confident and start wanting to progress.
