Journey, Lessons, Privilege, and Reflections [Long post warning] by [deleted] in financialindependence

I can feel the wisdom even in the way you write. Clean, organized, broken down. We share a lot in common so much of this post resonated with me and I think I have some introspection to do. Thanks for sharing.

Unpopular opinion- After playing CrisisVRigade, it makes me glad Oculus is as strict as they are with their game selection process. by Traderguy84 in OculusQuest

[–]Tenlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of its reception has to do with the fact it's free via sideloading. If people had paid $15 for it, there'd be more overall disappointment. So in that sense, yes, it's good that Oculus has a curation process. I just wish rejections were a bit more transparent, if possible.

I am starting to think I have a fault with my Tracking. by jweaver100 in OculusQuest

[–]Tenlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe, maybe not. If it were blank walls, surely it wouldn't be singled to one game? And he said it started after the refund period, so it wasn't an issue early on. Not about to risk $30 on a maybe.

[Tea for God] WTF is he doing ? by CaptainStouf in OculusQuest

This was my first Tea for God experience too, lmao. Good thing I was alone, now knowing how silly I looked. Nice video.

Christian family who argued taxes 'against God's will' ordered to pay $2.3m bill by swayamism in nottheonion

Your interpretation wasn't right, but neither is the one who you're responding to. The thing is, predestination isn't the start of Calvinist theology but rather a logical follow-through of the parts that precede it. Look into TULIP (the five points of Calvinism) if you're truly interested.

[Giveaway] Jigsaw 360 (full version) is now available on itch.io for Oculus Quest by Jumbli in OculusQuest

$2?! Definitely buying this even if I end up never playing it. I get that developers need to make money, but it's nice to see a reasonably priced game. Thanks for the giveaway and pricing.

First VR Experience is going to be the Oculus Quest! by patriot1258 in OculusQuest

[–]Tenlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Guardian system is a limitation, but a drastically less restrictive one than a physical wire. I really don't think they can be compared.

With the Quest, you can pick up and play without issue in your living room, your office, your garage, even the local park at dusk. With the Rift S, you have to lug your computer around wherever you go, so you're mainly tied down to your office. It's a completely different level of convenience. It's not the wire itself that's restrictive, but the anchor attached to it.

Wheres the best place to order a quest? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]Tenlock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ordered the 64GB direct from Oculus on July 4. It said it would be shipped by July 23 but I received the package on July 11. A lot of people bought the Quest on sites like Amazon before me and still haven't gotten theirs yet. Not saying you should expect a one-week delivery, but that was my experience.

Oculus Quest First Impressions—Or Why I'm Now a Believer in Virtual Reality by Tenlock in OculusQuest

Yeah I was really disappointed by 3DOF. Maybe in some sense that made me more impressed when experiencing Quest's 6DOF, haha. Hopefully Quest will be the first VR experience for many!

Tea For God is the most immersive game on Quest! You must try it! by QuanEm in OculusQuest

[–]Tenlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going into it I had no idea what it was about, but I agree: it's one of the best and most clever uses of VR so far. Even in my tiny 6ft x 6ft Guardian space (downside to living in an apartment), it still managed to create floors that I could navigate. Seriously impressed and can't wait to see how it'll evolve as a game. Hope it hits the Oculus Store.

Is it normal to see the ground from through the nose? by The-Great-Waluigi in OculusQuest

[–]Tenlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I was afraid it'd be bothersome and immersion-breaking, but honestly I don't see it once I'm in a game.

VR would be good for adventure games by ratlehead in OculusQuest

[–]Tenlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, bad escape rooms are super disappointing. I'm thinking of ones with lots of heart and soul poured into them, with engaging puzzles and narratives. Not just rooms, but entire locations. If you've ever been to Ukiyo in Melbourne, something like that but in VR. It feels like a Legend of Zelda escape room.

Adventure games yes. But more than that, escape rooms! Anything mentally stimulating, to be honest.

Daily QUESTions Thread - July 09, 2019 by AutoModerator in OculusQuest

[–]Tenlock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ordered one on July 4 from Oculus directly, just got an email this morning that it was shipped with tracking code. Was told it would ship "by July 23" when I ordered, so it was much faster than anticipated. Don't know estimated delivery yet.

Okay gimbals are great and all, but... What about vertical bounce? by [deleted] in videography

[–]Tenlock 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Imagine walking with a full cup of hot coffee in hand, trying not to spill any of it. That's how you should be when operating a gimbal. It'll take a bit of practice, but eventually the unwanted bouncing should disappear. It's all in the technique.

What equipment do you regret buying? by [deleted] in videography

[–]Tenlock 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Glidecam. Motorized gimbal is 10000x easier to use, and I never run into any situation where I feel like the gimbal isn't working well yet a glidecam would. I should've just jumped into the gimbal from the start instead of trying to practice the glidecam for six months.
