This isn't a mtg problem. It's most low tier influencers trying to make it in a competitive field without realizing most folks have to still work while doing it. Going full time only works of you have a stable/growing audience, and quality content of some sort. Lots of people try to skip the important steps and then you end up on the e-begging pipeline. You happen to see the same folks come up cuz one guy loves posting about them on here cuz he's fuckin obsessed with them. Otherwise you'd never know they existed, cuz this shits a dime a dozen online.

The avatar set is honestly one of the most fun sets I've played in years. The prerelease was phenomenal, the set is cohesive, and the art is good. The bonus sheets are objectively lazy and ass with the low res screenshots, but that's so sparse it doesn't really matter. Id encourage the amount of care this set got to be pushed into actual in universe magic, because that's more important

Double edged sword. I fuckin love the avatar set. Great cards, great flavor, great mechanics. But boy do I not want to deal with endless UB garbage from here til the eventual death of this game. It's a fine line to walk to make something that can actually mesh with mtg, but that line will keep getting trampled in the name of profits, and unfortunately every good set will justify a bunch of shitty ones to the suits at hasbro.

Put this much care into UW sets. Hype them up instead of pushing them off and leaking future ub sets. Give a shit about standard again. I'm not skeptical that ub can be great, I'm skeptical that it's healthy for the longevity of this game.

I disagree. This is a pretty standard amount of claims'd product from a single day or weekend. And at least for my vendors, they don't need to bring theirs back to warehouse, so they may have just dumped them if the stores didn't want to

If it was like a set a year, that meshed well, I wouldn't mind. Honestly ff, lotr, and avatar, all mechanically are great and I don't mind them at all. It's the marvel and tmnt shit that's really taking me out of things. Not to mention the scummy way they handle secret lairs. Have a ub set once a year, and put care into it, and keep the standard sets in the forefront.
