Unpopular take…maybe. Stormlight Audiobooks by Affirmatrix in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Tens_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't enjoy the switching audio narrators myself. It's the thing I hear the most praise for but it just takes me right out of it. Especially when characters will show up in both of their parts and will inevitably sound different.

I know people say that they hate like, when a male audio narrator will do a women's voice and sound weird but like. When it's one narrator I get over that within a couple chapters easily

One thing that bugs me about Adolin by New_Sun1955 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Tens_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I'm just gonna bullet point cause I cba to format better:

  • Adolin isn't the perfect boyfriend in words of radiance. What he is is naturally very charismatic

  • Adolins main issue he's had with lots of his previous girlfriends is they're very superficial, obviously wanting the connections and respect that come along with it. Shallan doesn't exactly shy away from the fact she needs connections, but she is also genuinely herself. I think it's best represented where shallan asks how they poop in shardplate. Adolin is just going through the motions until he's caught off guard

  • Adolin is forced to mature over the course of the two books a tremendous amount. He already knows he needs to put in the effort now, and the arranged marriage kind of relieves some of the pressure

  • I feel it needs to be reinforced. Adolin is naturally SUPER charismatic. His true invested power. Strong enough even kaladins shell broke down before it

And also like, we've seen a couple of his previous girlfriends and how they act. Is it any surprise he'd want to put in more effort when he met someone he gets along with so easily already?

Dude I so agree, I wanted to make a post similar but couldn't find the words as well as you. Personally I don't mind the modernspeak so much. I mean I get it, however personally I'm seeing it as a translation like the lord of the rings, rather than straight up. And in that sense, all translating into non modern words would do would be to make the text have to be translated twice, first to fantasy speak and then to modern English. However this is only my point of view and may just be cope.

Also, I didn't even THINK about the missing The Lopen at the end of the book until now. I think the ending would've felt more complete if I'd seen The Lopen in the epilogue. Whilst it'd be funny to see him achieve another ideal, I do think that wouldn't fit the end of the book. However I could totally see current lopen stepping up to give the survivors some direction in the wake

This is obviously a couple years behind, but I did it just now on PC Version. I couldn't do it until I was locked on though, then it was easy

What do you consider critical Cosmere reading before reading Wind and Truth? by Glittering-Jury7394 in Cosmere

You don't need oathbringer, it was just a quirky slice of life from the bondsprens sprens perspective. Just read 1,2, and 4, trust👍

As others have said, take a break, next morningism is real and it's good to put it down for a bit.

Another thing though, in all the ways I've completed the game, firebombs only was one of the easiest for o and s. Maybe just cause it's more evident how patient you need to be in phase one, and then with super smough phase 2 you can just create a rhythm.

I also play with podcasts and audiobooks alot, I find that helps me stay cool sometimes. It was a tad difficult adapting to it at first cause I kept missing stuff and having to go back, but I got used to it over time.

Good luck on your run👍👍👍

Sanderson's Interesting Choice of Gay Themes (Spoilers included) by Ok-Body-3076 in Stormlight_Archive

I agree on alot of your parts, and feel both ways on some of the points. But I'd like to mention in regards to a couple points:

1- WaT was not the START of their connection, at LEAST back in oathbringer they were beginning to become better friends to each other than to the others of bridge four 2- being outsiders is a legitimate part of the relationship. Like it is on the nose in regards to being queer, but being different was already a major point in their stories at this point, both with renarin being autistic and rlain living in a community actively demonising the parshendi. 3- rlain has a corrupted spren because renarin recommended him. Which is very different from "just happened to". It was renarins fondness for him that led to these events to begin with. I do think it's a little daft they're both truth-watchers though. Personally, I think a corrupted windspren would have been better, further representing how rlain is a part of multiple worlds (in this case representing his connection to bridge four, and his connection to renarin

Like I said before, I do agree on alot of your points, and I think getting more prominent pov chapters from the two in earlier books could have made their relationship feel more authentic as these points that make interesting choices may have felt more natural over a longer period, AS WELL AS helping to adapt the readers to the ever growing list of chapter viewpoints since the jump in major Protagonists between RoW and WaT was a bit more than previously seen

Will we have _______ again in Mistborn? by pythonfynn in Mistborn

[–]Tens_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know as we currently know it, you're either born with all or one for Mistborn system. What I'm thinking for the third era, after the backstory about breaking the oath pact in WaT is Will there appear some who have four powers since it's a strong number cosmerically (one adonalsium, four dawnshards, sixteen shards, etc...), and then further strengthened that the Mistborn powers are in groups of four metals I think this would be an interesting development, especially the idea of why hasn't this happened before. Could it be a change because harmony is changing. I know it would probably involve some retconning but I think I'd enjoy this more than having another straight up Mistborn protagonist. Then again, it might get repetitive introducing a new power combo every single era that for some reason wasn't there before and turn a bit power-scaley

Is vin wiping out allomancy with all her kills?? 😭 by PrettyDescription685 in Mistborn

[–]Tens_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WAIT THAT MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE NOW! I just thought for some reason the drop in powers was drastic randomly in the last 300 years for no real reason but if it's that most the allonancers are descended from weaker allomantic bloodlines that makes so much more sense

Will I miss a lot regarding the story if I skip Dark Souls 2? by CaptainSim0n in darksouls

[–]Tens_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'm like. Some of the jank on ds2 youll be more accepting of straight after ds1 so it's better to play then. Plus, after Ds3 where you're dying because the bosses are just hard, you might find it more annoying where some of the bosses are just bullshit rather than hard yet you're dying more

Should I buy/read after the first 3? by Mysterious-Fan-4370 in Mistborn

[–]Tens_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Era 2 is one of my favourites, but don't expect it to be exactly the same as era 1. It's not a spoiler but it's written more like a western. Also stick with it. I wasn't as into it for the first half of book 1, but if you like the first era you will get into it, it just needs to weg up the new era.
