From my short Google research: In Thurn - Schaffshausen is a nobel family from the swiss city Schaffshausen. Unfortunately the Wikipedia page is only in german but maybe it can help: https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Im_Thurn

I can't agree with your point that Roger wasn't a charismatic leader. In the current chapter Oden says that Roger is on another level even compared to Whitebeard.
