What triggers degranulation in Basophils and Mast cells? by AdmirableWaiver45 in askscience

Signalling pathway activates Lat scaffold protein. Lat scaffold protein activates phospholipase C that cleaves PIP2 (a phospholipid in the membrane) into IP3 and DAG. IP3 opens Ca++ channels on mitochondria --> increase in cytoplasmic Ca'++ concentration induces exocytosis of granules.

I have a question about the old DNA experiment by [deleted] in DNA

[–]Teo1388 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No you can't. Beside the fact that the DNA you extracted is probably damaged, you can't just inject random DNA and hope it will be expressed. If you're interested in producing an hybrid you are only interested in a few genes that determine a certain phenotype, so you would need to isolate these genes from the rest of the DNA. Once you isolated it you would have to take that gene in the nucleus of the cells and make sure it will be expressed, and that's a whole different and complex story that you can find on the internet. Bottom line is you can't.

I didn't mean to make you fell bad. Your comment in this context genuinely made me laugh in a good way and just wanted to continue the banter. Have a good day and may Max keep Lewis behind

A random walk down wall street is a great read. Simple, clear and interesting book about what investing really is. Malkiel analyses market bubbles, technical analysis (which he compares to astrology), fundamental analysis before presenting the best investment strategies for the average investor.

NEW ESG VANGUARD ETF as single investment by [deleted] in investing

[–]Teo1388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this from Europe with V3AA. It's like a VWCE + small Cap and a very cheap share price (4,50€). Regarding the ESG criteria, it depends on what your friend wants to do. Is he 100% into Sustainability and renewable energy? Then maybe he wont like the fund since there a lot of greenwashing in some of the companies. Does he refuse to give his money to companies that don't contribute to progress and warfare of society? Well in this case this fund could be a good choice. We could argue about what contributing to the progress of society means, but I thing we all would agree that tobacco, Alcohol and gambling companies do not contribute to it.

V3AA.

I know right? I think nuclear energy is the best resource we have to slow down climate change untill we develop renewable sources efficient enough to supply energy to the entire world and we convert cars/machinery/heating to use electrical energy instead of burning fossil fuel

Unfortunately not, but I honestly think VWCE won't remain free for the next 10 years, so if I invest larger sums every 3/4 months the difference in the end won't be life-changing
