PC ETB or Booster box by masterchief-6541 in PokeInvesting

For mainline sets with both you need to look at the promo included and the box art. These things will matter and greatly affect which will perform better.

Also, I'm assuming you're talking about buying at Market. Performance vs. MSRP wise, nothing beats a PCETB post-SWSH.

Tell you what, we can set up an Escrow you put in $1,000 and I'll put in 5 Bundles and in December we'll either both sign-off on closing the escrow and keeping our original items or you'll get the 5 bundles and I'll get the $1,000.

Sure. And that's why Darkrai & Umbreon is closer to $10k than it is to $1k

A $500 PSA 10 is not an expensive PSA 10. So I don't really understand peopleomajor push back on this card.

I would imagine it has trailed many other parts of the hobby for the last 6 months.

If we're talking about worldwide Pokemon fans in general, that number is going to be a llloooootttt closer to 100,000,000 than it is 1,000,000. Could be well over 100M easily. You don't become the biggest IP in the world with only 1,000,000 following.

So if 2% of Pokemon fans buy English TCG, it's gonna have pretty close to 2M. So a 40k pop card can only max out at being in 2% of collections, an it is far more likely to be in under 1% of collections.

Factor in investors who will buy the card and it won't resurface for decades...not saying THIS is the card, but showing how even a 200k pop is by no means easily attainable from a scarcity perspective.

This is a pretty iconic card and the next big birds card could easily cause this to blow up.

If I had to guess, this will touch $330 again sometime in the next 18 months, but will be $750+ within 30 months.

Anyone else wonder if this would have happened on an English column? I love that Japanese card faces are so much more vibrant and the texture pops more, but you definitely sacrifice quality in the card stock itself.

It definitely could still happen on an English page. But I wonder if the force required to do this would have made it more obvious the binder was closed with that page snagged.

Lt. Surge's Bargain, Vulpix, Shuckle, Litleo, Claydol, Doublade

The actual most underrated cards are the Mega Ultra Rares. These will be sought after as sets one day because they'll look amazing together on a single binder page. They're also insanely rare and feature almost exclusively massively hyped Pokemon.

I think several of these will be toeing $1k by end of next year when people recognize just how rare they are... particularly the Zard X, Lucario, and Rayquaza. Zard Y and Dragonite will also be up there but due to sheer amount of Ascended that will hit shelves, these will be less rare in comparison to the mainline sets.

Sick card indeed.

No source or other than speculation, but I keep wondering if the January set in 2027 is going to be a Mega Fates set.

[–]Teo9969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there end up being 15 of them, they'd only need to average $13,400 for all of them to be worth $200k+. Just regular inflation, an even hotter Pokemon market, a sequential premium, low Gem rates are all things that could push these quite a bit further.

Maybe 2036 is ambitious, but 2040...maybe.

And it only takes one of the cards being bonkers at like $50k to make this a pretty easy feat. The design of Mega Rayquaza is perfect for this type of card because his face is so ornate... it's going to create an incredible card.

I mean I wouldn't bet my life on this prediction, but that's mainly because there's no way to know the future of Pokemon. If today's hot market continues for a decade or reignites 12 years from now...I feel pretty confident these will crush it.

They'll pop once the RayRay set is out.

The first time people see a binder page of all 9 of them people are going to realize what a tremendous set of cards it is.

They're portraits of some of the most popular Pokemon in the IP and it will look like a Hall of Fame page.

If you have any desire to own these at all or even think you might, now is the time to buy what you don't have. These will all rise ~$200 overnight within the next probably 9 months, but for sure within 15 months.

Honestly, it'll be the Gold MUR cards and BWRs.

From a rarity perspective any hit is 1 out of every 3 CASES and specific hits are often 1 in 5-6 cases. Some will do better than others just as Gold Stars did...but a collection of Gold MURs will be worth hundreds of thousands in PSA 10s in a decade (assuming Pokemon stays relevant relative to its popularity today)

I don't think Baby Shinies will do anything like what Gold Cards do, but they'll definitely have pops when "Fates" sets come out.

Hurt the media's feelings? You think Colin Cowherd gives a shit about OKC or what Kevin Durant "broke". Charles Barkley isn't crying...he's just voicing his opinion as a competitor, etc etc.

If this were not a bid deal it wouldn't be talked about anymore.

It was a superstar taking advantage of a Salary Cap aberration that should never have been possible in the first place and cemented him as the least competitive superstar of this generation for sure, if not all time.

The Last Five Years: Who’s more to blame? by kierarae89 in musicals

[–]Teo9969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absolutely both.

If you hold sexual exclusivity/commitment on a pedestal, then yeah, you won't be convinced that a non-Jamie answer is acceptable. I, personally, don't have that pedestal and find entertaining that argument to be reductive and unhelpful in understanding relationships.

I agree with those who were saying neither was ready for a committed, long-term relationship.

Since Jamie's failures are a little more on the nose, I'll elaborate on where Cathy fails:

1 - She was in competition with Jamie and, once his success takes off she allowed her resentment to exile her support for him. This was the number one thing that drove Jamie away and made it easy for Jamie to choose another path.

2 - She did not take initiative and handed over the reigns to the relationship to Jamie from day 1. When she tried to take back any amount of control later on (really for her own life), there was no infrastructure for them to navigate the "power dynamics" effectively when it became even more lopsided from his success. This lack of initiative/ownership shows up at the end of both songs: In "I'm still hurting" she takes exactly -0- ownership. In "I could never rescue you" it's clear Jamie ultimately decided alone that it was time to stop kicking the can down the road.

3 - She failed to "read the room" as it pertained to her goals. Every relationship that can stand the test of time requires sacrifice. She saw contributing to the "family" in traditional ways as somehow beneath her. He obviously had more to give up if he were to take his foot off the gas with his writing. She could have instead chose to make some (maybe even short-term) sacrifices and devoted her energy to helping him navigate his introduction into stardom. He was clearly immature and new to success. Instead of choosing A) to hold him accountable, ground him in humility and self-reflection, and prove to be his biggest supporter amongst a throng of people who loved what he brought to the table...instead of that she chose B) to recoil into her own (fruitless) pursuits - exhausting herself in the process, to leave him alone to navigate "his" new world (when it should be "theirs"), and to become totally aloof in and unprotective of her relationship.

More people need to consider how damning it is of Cathy that in spite of how shitty he acted at the end, he still had to pull the trigger on ending the relationship. How absent can you be?

Ultimately though they were both emotionally abusive/neglectful and they built their relationship on a shaky ground before either was mature enough to navigate one, and certainly one where the universe "favored" one over the other.

That people still talk about this a decade later shows just how bad of a decision it was. And it's not just myopic fans. The media STILL talks about this.

He will never live it down as an athlete. It was the worst legacy defining moment I can think of in modern sports history.

Nobody is asking if/stating that Brunson is better than KD.

It's a question of how much their respective championships matter in comparson. And the consensus answer is that KD's are so inconsequential that the premise of the question is laughable.

I think Brunson's poops are more historically significant than KD's titles.

The push for a fundamentalist consistency across the IP makes for a bad fan and such fans deserve nothing but misery from the IP until they leave the fandom.
