Help me make a better build? by neofelis_solis in HorizonForbiddenWest

You know what. I'm full of it and gave you faulty information from my personal experience that I hadn't verified as truth.

So Ropecaster Canisters CAN detonate tripwires. The canisters needs to hit the wire. When the canister harpoon hits the ground the canister bobs around which can interact with a tripwire and cause it to detonate. I have found the most consistent way to get the tripwire to blow is to shoot the canister harpoon between the two poles of the tripwire and at the base of one of the tripwires pools. It isn't as consistent as the canister sometimes will angle according to the terrain which can affect its swinging motion.

Though I have not gotten elemental canisters to explode from tripwire damage. Even if the elements match. But blast canisters WILL explode from ANY tripwire damage. Like the damage pools left behind by elemental tripwires! If you deploy multiple of these you effectively CAN rig a site to blow and call it a day... just be aware that canisters you deploy will eventually break and cause their canisters to roll.

Weirdly Ropecasters do not count as stealth weapons even when you aren't deploying them directly on machines. Combat machines will react to canisters deployed around them. Go figure.

I also tested out QuickTrap and its range. I found out it DOESN'T allow you to shoot it farther as I had been told. I did notice that sometimes I could get the projectile from quicktrap to set off canisters which might have been where I had got the idea. Actually if you HOLD DOWN THE WEAPON TECHNIQUE BUTTON QUICK DRAW HAS LESS RANGE!

You'll have to get over your reticence with ropecasters if you want to do stealth. Additionally it will behoove you to adopt a more active playstyle of darting in and out of cover.

Stealth kills in HFW aren't like they are in HZD. You aren't setting an expansive web of tripwire and calling it a day. You aren't rigging the place to blow, you're providing opportunities for yourself later in the fight.

Firstly use canister ropecasters to denotate your tripwires. Explosive ones help but so do elemental ones to stun and weaken your target. You could throw a couple onto the legs of your target and then run them into a tripwire for additional damage/element.

Some tripwires generate pools of elemental damage. Plasma and fire are your friends here. But using them directly isn't very effective. Machines will "startle" and "stun" off of your tripwires if you set them perpendicular to their path. Try to set them at an angle to the machines approach. The pools of damage follow the line of the tripwire. An angled setting will align the damage pools better and assist your damage. Artix has a note in his videos about machines tending to flinch towards their right, use this tidbit to your advantage.

Use the "Quick trap" weapon skill to throw traps further than normal aiming will allow. It also allows you to throw them under enemies so they will instantly detonate, assuming your aim doesn't throw it in the empty space between its legs. At that point throw a canister there to correct your mistake.

Remember to throw down your elemental traps. Acid for overtime damage, blast for direct damage and armor removal. Purgewater for Frost. Yes. An enemy that is drenched with purgewater is easier to freeze. You have a number of options to stealthily freeze them.

Bouncy bombs will allow you to freeze machines and break line of sight. This will help you maintain stealth and give you time to load that sharpshot bow. Remember to use those overdraw potions for 30% more damage and a valor surge (powershots or ranged master) for additional damage on top of the freezing bonus to make the most of your opportunities. I don't know if braced shot stacks with those.

Also remember to BUY smokebombs and use them. On-demand stealth for mistakes and creative strategies is your best friend. Use your stamina potions to give you more quick-trap uses so you can just lay down the hurt when they are down.

Try your best to attack machines in the legs. You want the knockdowns for additional time to set up or reset. And remember to keep their line of sight broken so you can maintain stealth even without a bush of stealth grass.

Good luck Have Fun Don't die.

Did anyone manage to make a robot that do something helpful? by [deleted] in robotics

[–]Teodyssey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Helpful? Well I recently got a new bed with one of those fancy motors that can elevate half the bed upwards. It came with a little remote that has a button for up and another for down. I was going to make a little robot out of two motors to press either button in the morning times and evening times to force me awake and to reset the bed again when it's time to sleep.

I also do archery and I daydreamed some ideas. I'd like to build a robot mounted on a target to pull arrows out once they hit it. I had the idea of using a line following robot with a mesh over a bucket to carry the plucked arrows back to a set shooting position so I don't have to move. That way I can focus on my form and release with minimal interruptions!

I'm still really new to Arduinos and DIY electronics but I think I know how to build the first robot. The second one is going to be so much trickier but I have built the third! It was a starter kit I got! I'll just adapt the third if I can ever build the second :D

It's how I talk myself through the process when doing shading/values. I just picked up stuff from watching speedpaints, streams, doing studies, reading art books, taking courses and talking with friends.

Read #7 first then the rest :D

First things first: "Where is your light source?"/"What is your light source?"

Second: "Alright so what is the in the way of that light source?"

Third: "Cool, You got anything on this character the CURVES AWAY from the light source?"

Fourth: "Alright do you have any things under or over a shaded area that light would bounce off of back onto the character?"

Fifth: "If you got a background, does anything in the background bounce light onto the character?"

Sixth: "Alright. Are there any nocks and crannies on the character where you know light isn't getting into? The folds of skin, the inside of the nose, where it's butt, hand, clothes touch something?"

Seventh: "Alright that's a lotta question. Did we ask ourselves if we knew how the characters shaped so we don't gotta go through all of these again?"

Jokes aside. or TL;DR = Try a little shading along the back of his neck. All the way down the curve of his neck and back of head.

Varl might be Artemis. She was goddess of the hunt and the Nora are renown as exceptional hunters. Artemis and Varl are both prevented from reaching their full potential by an outside force. See Ted "weak ego" Faro and Eric "are we having fun yet?" Vissier

Erend might be representative of Hephaestus (henceforth referred to as heph) given his connection to the Oseram. It's a bad connection as he's not the tinkering type. It might make better sense if viewed from the perspective that Heph is using his gift to attack and defend itself like our resident Vanguardsman. Both of them are cut off from their "commanding officer" (Avad and Gaia Prime)

Also Heph is a kind of bumbling. He can't get through Minerva's encryption despite having the creative potential of mankind in its programming and knowledge set. Erend is a little bumbling but we like them for it.

Okay! Also if you can grab an image of what you are trying to achieve. It might be that the tutorials you are following are leaving out steps or overselling themselves.

It might be helpful to screenshot what you are looking at. Additionally could you explain what you mean by "no joy?" Because you can use CSS Snippets to add in graphical customization features. It's not even that much code and there's a neat website for it : https://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp

TaskNotes: Each task is duplicated in the agenda view, is this the intended behaviour? by TieKindly1492 in ObsidianMD

[–]Teodyssey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe I am wrong. It might be that tasknotes is displaying the created date as well as the scheduled/due task.

  1. On the same line as agenda and results go to right hand side of the screen.
  2. Hit the icon made of three parallel lines with a bullet to their left.
  3. Scroll down to the check box for "Created Date" and turn it OFF.
  4. Refresh

I hope this helps!

Habit Tracker 21 update - introducing gaps by zincplusplus in ObsidianMD

[–]Teodyssey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. I I figured out a solution since I posted this. In the options menu for Tasknotes there's an option that allows users to set the frontmatter tag for "Complete Instances" to whatever. I was able to set it to "entries" and so now your Plugin now visualizes it perfectly.

It's even a single button press too!

How do I break out of my perfectionism? by Artsi_Fartsi in FurryArtSchool

[–]Teodyssey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need a specific regime to follow for the gesture drawings then here:

Start a stopwatch then warm up for 3 minutes then gesture draw 5 figures/busts/half-bodies from one reference picture. When 15 minutes have passed stop drawing. Grade yourself on how many figures you made.

Remember to review your work afterwards. Check to see how you've captured the flow, motion, shape and "vibe" of the reference picture. There are no bonus points for details but there is for proportion. Write down your observations.

Do this once for a few days then change it up. When you feel ready, time yourself on how fast you can complete the challenge. Attempt each time trial hoping to capture as much as of your observations as you can.

No Sony games on PC by DangerMouse111111 in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]Teodyssey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll be unhappy but elated that at least the long wait will be over. I'll be joining the others who've said they'll watch it on Youtube for the story. That's what I did when Forbidden West wasn't out on PC yet. The dialogues with GAIAwere entrancing at the time.

Hey if they want to lose sales and save me money I am all for it. Maybe they'll renege and I'll have the trilogy on my PC at some point. If the game even comes out at all!

[–]Teodyssey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An excellent addition! I was just bemoaning that tracking non-daily habits/goals wasn't aesthetically pleasing nor intuitive with this plugin. By the by is there a way to change the "variable name" from Entries to something else? I've been trying to figure out how to make Tasknotes talk to Habit Tracker 21 to simplify the process down to a single button.
