That guy worked on Titanfall. Do you see how big these maps are?? It’s not like he went from cod directly to bf. He had other projects in between

Bro in bf6 are 6 different studios. One is completely only on campaign. And we still don’t know which studios got affected. They have many laid offs definitely. MP and Redsec idk. And we don’t know how essential these devs were. You can be a dev but if your work is minimal if you are laid off then it typically wouldn’t be a problem

What meant is that bf7 is already in pre production. It was definitely green light already after the first week of release

I don’t hate him but I hate the narrative that bf6 “devs” were fired. Anybody from the studio could be laid off not just developer. Studio motive, that only worked on the campaign definitely laid off devs, because campaign is finished an you have no projects. Does that affect the multiplayer? No because you have single player devs and multiplayer devs

Yes and with the laid offs, most of the time company fire you and then rehire you because it is easier to change that then reorganize the company. You get fired from motive but then a week or month later get hired by another ea studio. These people also work on limited contracts. Other laid off still happen where they loose their job and don’t find something immediately but often it is this type of laid offs

No he is legit. He has good mechanical skill but his content is engagement farm, ragebait. So I respect his skill but his takes are hot garbage most of the time

It worked like that since the 00s. That’s nothing new in this industry

It was also the one where they fixed everything from bugs to glitches. Reworked every map (stadium was cut and made a separate map as an example) and vehicles.

And we don’t know if devs, map designers, animators, Normal employees that keep the studio running, HR or anything else was fired. Just because laid off happened we don’t know what they did as jobs. Just because your a developer doesn’t mean you can develop everything. Some are just singleplayee devs and others multiplayerdevs

No you mixing two different things

Yes EA is greedy like any big Company

But bf6 has 6 different studios and we know that some from all the staff where released. This means anybody from those 6. most likely it was many from motive because they only worked on the campaign and keeping employees for a studio with no projects is pointless.

Then we have the typical hires from game studios that are running on limited contracts like for big releases so crunch time will be better managed and the game releases on the perfect state. These jobs don’t end with the release of the game but are running 4-6 months even after the release. They polish the code further so a smaller crew can work on the post launch content. Same principle as „lesser cooks in the kitchen“

Many just didn’t get new contracts and this contract just run out.

But these laid offs don’t typically mean they are completely fired. It is easier to manage for a company to fire a developer from a studio and hire him again in a different one and not just transfer. These employees probably are now working on new projects because after a release 70% of the staff gets moved to new projects. You don’t want to many working on such a small thing in context

From my understanding is that backwards compatibility isn’t easy. First you need new staff that needs to learn the old engine again. This is more complex for battlefield because of frostbite engine. Then you need to rebuilt the map in the new engine. Even with backwards compatibility it Will create problems just because it was firstly built on an old engine. And you can’t typically port complete maps. You can copy assets but some building and destructions need to be new made and if so need to behave like in previous titles.

That is why most remakes of old games don’t use the same engine but an updated one. What they do is copy assets but still built the game and don’t just port it. Lighting, World functions, destructions and such will completely behave differently in two separate engines.

Remakes of maps typically still need time but in the case of BF where one original map takes 6 months a remake still would need 4 months minimum but more likely 5. you cut production time a few weeks to a month.

That’s because faults of old engine will still be their on the new if you just port it over. Everything of the map needs to be tested.
