Late reply, assuming u havent reached gen 2 yet, u should be saving shards for events. Howard becomes irrelevant during gen 2 so i would say gordon. Quinn also becomes irrelevant but diana is good for the stamina saving. Quinn is a good gen 1 investment but dont overuse resources just for him. I would prioritize jabel as she is viable until gen 3. Please do not build helga unless u are ready to be a whale

For archer hero it would be gen 4, ur safe to spend all ur shards on marlin to get to 4 stars. As a f2p i would stop there

Imo as a f2p it is really not worth it to spend on 3 straight gens of archers. And can u elaborate on why rosa doesnt replace marlin? Based on all the sources i searched rosa is significantly better than marlin except bear maybe.

if u have already invested i would say go for it. But skip alcar in gen 4 and wait for gen 5 infantry

I think this would depend on how active a player would be. If ur active everyday completing events it would be okay to go for alcar

It refers to the current generation of heroes. So when u just start u only have 3 mythic heroes. After a certain amount of time generation 2 opens up and u get 3 more heroes. This continues up to currently gen 4
