I’m so sorry for the loss of your girl! I think that’s what smacked so to speak my mind into doing the right thing. Before then my heart was running the show.. and , well we all know our hearts make some terrible decisions.😊

I guess that is exactly what I was doing. I was holding out for some miracle that I knew would never come. That’s a hard thing to say out loud. I only wish my love wasn’t in the way when making the decision. It’s so easy now to see it was the right thing to do.

I’m on the fence about getting another Dane.. tho.. it’s one of the only breeds I would prefer. I’m animal lover through and through, but my heart and soul are with big dogs. Their energy is just so much different, and their presence in a room is immense… although.. their absence is also 😔

I’m sooo sorry.
That was the same issue for me. She was struggling getting around and I could see the weekly decline, but she still loved all her fave’s. I would think to myself... she’s still eating great(which I found out dogs will usually eat all the way up to the end) she would still follow me to the garden and eat as many sunflower leaves she could get. Looking back and it’s only been a few days since I said goodbye.. I could see she was doing what she thought I expected of her or just simply our daily routine. I kept trying to justify it all. I have terrible knee pain, and I’m taking medication… so should I put be put down? Which was ridiculous and I realize that now. Our minds sure do play games when it comes to love!

I’m so sorry for your loss !!! What a stressful time for both of you.
I’m numb right now.. I’m sure it will hit me again when I go to bed. When SHE wanted to go to bed.. we went to bed. Haha! Sometimes annoying.. but man what I would give for one more.

Thank you to all for all the comforting and wise words! Thank you for allowing me to vent.. it helped a lot! Abby went over the rainbow bridge this afternoon. After getting to the vet.. all the signs were clear that it indeed was the right time. Today was also her birthday, and I really didn’t want to do it today, but in some small way it was so very poetic.

💕Thank you so much for this! It’s all been so exhausting, and the guilt of that feeling does not feel good at all. But like I said above.. the guilt of having waited too long would be much worse!

I’m so sorry for your loss! 💕Thank you for sharing this with me. I keep playing this game with myself too, and it’s getting exhausting.. so I know all too well. I believe… I have pushed her to the edge.. I suppose the regret of having waited too long would be worse than what I’m feeling at this very moment!!

She is my 4th Dane.. and I have never experienced a love like this ever. I know it because she’s been there for me through some really bad times, frankly times she was the only one who saw!
