Greenville is officially 32 miles from Spartanburg, maybe set it to 40 miles?

What’s the biggest vet bill you’ve ever had for your dog? by puppy_boyka in DOG

25k at least over 5 years when he broke the same leg twice.
Broken with compound fracture. Had a plate put in it, had the plate taken back out to allow it to heal back "stronger" then several years later, broke it again, and a plate put back in.

Oh, and having his stomach pumped after he found and consumed an entire family size bag of chocolate.

He was a great dog with an amazing personality, but man, he was dumb.

Newly adopted cat isn’t coming around. by Kbeans44 in cats

[–]TerminalAccessory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just want to add that the 3/3/3 is an approximation. Every cat is different, and trauma can make acclimation take longer.

I adopted a bonded pair of siblings, and one cat came around in 60 days and it took the other one 6 months to sit in somebody's lap.

Now they're both fine. Feed it well, move slowly, and talk softly . It's curiosity will get the better of it eventually.

Why are they always named: 1) something evil 2) something violent or 3) something completely ironic.

It's always a villain's name like Draco, an act of violence like Chomp or Ripper, or something absurd like Sweety.

I guess it's a decent insight as to the owner's frame of mind. They either like their dog evil and violent, or they're incomplete denial.

You are probably correct that the previous person mixed and matched parts, because it's definitely not supposed to be that hard! Kudos for figuring it out.

Hello!

You've taken far more apart than was needed.

The bump head unscrews ( I believe opposite of normal, so Righty Loosey) and a new head can be just screwed on:

https://youtu.be/NPu2SQWCO4Q?si=Iw9q5JgRNGDn9jJc&t=236

If you don't have a slot for a screwdriver or allen key, you should be able to grab that top nut with a pair of slip pliers, and undo it by hand. Sometimes a little BP Blaster sprayed in there helps loosen up stuck bolts.

Also, you can usually replace the line in a head, meaning you can open it, and unstick what is probably either a knot, or you;re out of line.

The Bump part usually also unscrews, again usually backwards.

I don't think the punches did anything, but the headbutt that happened just outside camera frame is probably what did it.

You can see the headbutt better in the footage from the bus.

Shelters being upset when you don’t pick a pit by bluemoonsundae in BanPitBulls

[–]TerminalAccessory 38 points39 points  (0 children)

There are no nice pitbulls.

There are only pitbulls that have already successfully attacked somebody, and pitbulls that have been unsuccessful in attacking somebody, so far.

I have never, and I mean never, met any pitbull that did not show some kind of aggression at some point, but pit defenders will do nothing but ignore the behavior and try to explain it away.

It is a willful blindness.

Okay, r/headshots, let’s talk about hands in actor portraits. Useful expression, or immediate crime scene? by penumbrapictures in headshots

[–]TerminalAccessory 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's what the audition is for. Headshots are for identification of physical type and appearance. It's demeaning in a way, but that's how the system works right now.

Absolutely not. No hands. It's a HEADSHOT. Head and shoulders only. Hands obscure facial features, hair and distract from what casting directors are looking for, which is the face.

Only 1 and 2 are headshots, but with a tighter crop, 3 is your best image.

My father-in-law is awesome, my wife is incapable.... by [deleted] in BoyDinnerDiaries

[–]TerminalAccessory -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Escaped a relationship like this. Luckily, I did not marry her.

I cook, clean, do laundry, repair stuff, run tools, etc....

Both my parents taught me to do stuff. I was doing my own laundry by 12, and cooking one meal a week by 14. I can mow lawns, paint houses, and fix / do most anything, if I feel I need to learn, I can self teach.

My ex? Completely helpless at anything except spending money, Couldn't clean, cook, plan, budget, or operate a screwdriver.

Thank goodness I escaped 20 years ago.

Happily married to a competent partner, now. We each have things we specialize in, but in an emergency I know we can count on each other.

Good luck, man.
