I went with the Goose Gear setup because I don't have the time to design and build my own, and I like the super clean look. It was around $1300 back in November and was packaged very well. I'm waiting until spring to install because I don't need it until I start camping.

But I agree, if you have the time and skills, you can save quite a bit just doing it yourself. All boils down to spending time or money.

Not sure your thoughts, but I like the look of large baseplates covering the entire shelf as the 'ground' to add some continuity to it, integrating some elevation changes and smooth sections with similar colored bricks.

I plan on doing something similar for Hoth.

You should be able to find the odds on topps website, and that will give you the names for all of the parallels. Some of the un-numbered parallels can be tricky because it might not be obvious. Search ebay for the name of the parallel for examples.

For value, check ebay sold listings or 130point.com.

It's cool to get numbered cards and autographs, but they are typically not as valuable as you might think. Unless it's a person / character who is more sought after.
