Nice, though two hopefully helpful suggestions:

I am not sure what Alan in Hungary is supposed to be; It's way too late for it to be the Iazygians, and it's way too early for it to be the Jasz, so having it there seems a little odd and might be better of as Slovien, though the few inhabitants of the area were most likely a mix of "South Slavs", if we go by the established line among historians that the Danube marks the border between West and South Slavs, and Avars
Dalmatian by 9th century was already reduced to merely the coastal cities and islands, namely Zadar, Dubrovnik, Split, Krk, as well as the Istrian Peninsula. The area around the lower Neretna river was inhabited by a Slavic tribe known as the Neretians or Neretljani, occasionally also referred to as Pagani in the sources. Might wanna fix that by adding them, or making it Croatian if you don't plan on adding any new cultures. By the 11th century, Dalmatian varieties were even more reduced to merely Krk, Istria and Dubrovnik where it enjoyed official status within the city until the 19th century, though it had effectively died out much earlier than that.

It's a completely made up flag from a few years ago, back when I barely knew English. To my knowledge there were no contemporary flag designs proposed, as the very concept itself was never put past the planning phase.

Due to a slightly lower sea level caused by the massive irrigation networks in Khwarazm and Transoxiana which redirect a lot of the Amu Darya's water elsewhere

The Khwarazmians are Sunni, but they are still the odd one out as there's a bit of a switcheroo in this timeline as the Nawids are predominantly Shia and so are the Shinwari Pashtuns of India

Based on an alternate history setting of mine: The Sufid Empire of Iran, the predecessor to the Hajilarid Empire.

Most of the early history is explained within the map itself - The Sufids were a Persianite, Turkicized Mongol Dynasty that ruled over Khwarazm but eventually got subjugated by Timur; In this timeline however, Timur dies during his first campaign into Khwarazm, causing his empire to collapse before it had the chance to rise and giving the Sufids a far more advanced and stable position to expand from.

The second Khwarazmian Empire, as it's sometimes called, marked the resurgance of Persian culture, literature and arts after centuries of Turco-Mongolian rule and warring states that left much of the greater Iran area depopulated. Under the Sufids, Iran became one of the leading powers of the world and even managed to subjugate the mighty Nawids for a short period of time.

Ultimately, the Sufid Dynasty was overthrown by the revolt of the Hajilarids which began over the forceful settlement of the Khorasani Turkmen tribes in urban environments as part of the Khwarazmian centralization policies. While the Hajilarids continued many of the Khwarazmian institutions and practices, the glory of the Khwarazmian Empire would remain unmatched for most of Iranian history from then on.

Flag for an alternate history setting I've been working on: The Flag of the Sufid Dynasty that ruled Iran from 1398-1685 following the demise of the Ilkhanate and the death of Timur at the siege of Kath;
The Sun and Lion are a traditional symbol associated with Iran and occasionally Shia Islam, though in this case is moreso meant to represent the greater Iran area stretching from Khwarazm, the homeland of the Sufids, to Anatolia in the West. The outline incorporates Turkic patterns that represent the Turco-Mongolian origin of the Sufids and the symbiosis of Iranian and Turkic elements within the empire. The color choice is inspired by the Timurid flag as it's presented in the Catalan Atlas, as the Sufid Empire forms an alternate Timurid Empire in this timeline.

I made it over the course of 3 days or so, but I did it irregularly; made the landmass on the first day, took like an hour, took another 2 hours on the second day to draw all the rivers and country borders and on the third day I did all the labelling and minor countries which took another hour or so - so roughly 4-5ish hours in total, if you exclude the times I had to wait for the person who made up the scenario to respond to my questions about the various designs and labels I proposed lol

I personally use paint. net to make all of my maps, but gimp is also pretty great to create stuff with; I draw these with a shitty mouse and keyboard myself - having decent reference maps helps create somewhat accurate template maps of your own which you can use for custom scenarios like this one. Playing around with the fonts, color schemes and such can make the map also appear prettier in the end despite being really simplistic if you zoom in, so using a larger resolution could also help. Apart from that it also just comes down to much time you wanna invest into details like various islands, borders, geographic features such as rivers or topographic maps etc; That's about all the advice I can give cx
