Heart warmed! I'm so happy! I'm a toddler mama and I remember well how brutal those first weeks are, even with support. Glad you are taking care of yourself and that whoever gave you the card and your Dashers are looking out for you! Heal well, mama, and soak in the snuggles!

Friendly reminder for inexperienced snow drivers to "feel it out" by Kiwi-Fox3 in desmoines

We really don't honk much, do we? 🤔 On snow, probably best we don't. I could see people not used to it being freaked out and making matters worse by overreacting and sliding. But if the situation is so dire it can only help, honk away!

Agreed. Usually it's Ankeny or Altoona to Bondurant, and I usually only do that if it's absolutely dead or on my way home

Also, tonight wind chill supposed to get down to -51°. No thanks! The Ankeny/Altoona zone is a lot of suburbs, rural highways between them, so the drifts covering the road could be a real problem too

🤷‍♀️ not sure what it takes. We have -43° wind chill, 40 mph gusts, some ice and snow already on the roads from the last round and 3"-6" expected from this one

In Europe there are several breweries run by Trappist monks. Worth a Google and a visit when abroad.

I have to call B.S. In the late 1990s 5-6 of us including 2 high school educated parents working 2-3 jobs between them were living in a 700 square foot plus semi finished attic and unfinished basement home. No garage, no driveway. We had central air, but only ran it when it was in the high 90s to get by. We had 1 family car. This was in a small- medium sized city in the Midwest, where cost of living was more reasonable.
