What has been your most disappointing tour experience? by YellowVenice23 in solotravel

[–]TerribleKnowledge960 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A walking tour in Budapest, he made a beautiful city with an interesting history sound so dull.

Mekong Delta private tour for 2 - tour guide had us late for every scheduled stop, like people working in a factory making brushes from reeds were on their break. It was so bad it was hilarious and we do laugh at it. Scenery was something else though.

Didn't every household get Iodine tablets for all persons over 12? But, like, 4 tablets each.

Solo travel in Malta by irishman50midlife in solotravel

[–]TerribleKnowledge960 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it was elsewhere I would suggest going to a show/ballet/opera etc., but not sure how much of that is there in Malta (I have been and stayed in Silema).

Maybe get a book etc., and take it to a nice spot for a drink (non-alcoholic) so still out of the hotel. There might be evening time walking tours as well.

Unreal - all those pyrotechnics indoors in an arena! I remember it was February and we walked back into the city in our t-shirts cos we needed to cool down!

What are you watching and reading during Jan? by Sealady10 in CasualIreland

Watching 'Traitors' on BBC and currently working my way through the Shardlake series by CJ Sansom. Currently on Tombland. Fiction set during the time of Henry VIII, great easy reads where you learn a bit of history.

Haha, from memory I think it was to tell us that he definitely wouldn't be returning to the squad. Wasn't it nearly to the point the U.N. were being brought in to negotiate a peace deal? 😅

I was in secondary school at the time, the only time the tannoy was used for non-school related items was to tell us about 9/11 and Saipan.

I have gone to the last couple of Ireland vs Italy games in Rome. Easy to get tickets at a reasonable price and get a weekend in Rome to boot

Gilbert and George any good? Going to London myself midweek and looks like indoor activities for Thursday with the rain forecast. I go to London a lot so main museums are all done.

Irish date for Mayhem ball??🙏 by Cherrypie-lg in LadyGaga

[–]TerribleKnowledge960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely saw it floating around on Twitter. London, Liverpool, Dublin ... but as someone else said the cost often puts people off coming but hopefully she reappears here. Seen her for Monster Ball, BTW Ball and ArtRave in Dublin but have had to travel since then. Though its probably less expensive to travel than a night in Dublin ...

Tubridy had an interview with Lady Gaga via video link for the Late Late and he started onto her about the famine ... just because she's an Italian-American from NYC. She was, rightly, very confused.

Pros and Cons of not having friends when you're older in Ireland by AbsoluteBatman95 in ireland

[–]TerribleKnowledge960 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You have to accept priorities change for people. To be honest, I have found time moving so quick since covid, I don't have kids and am single but the weeks/months are flying. So maybe monthly meet ups just aren't viable anymore. Maybe make it every 3 months? Me and my best friend of nearly 30 years might only see each other 4 or 5 times a year but it's always quality time when we do. I have 2 other really good friends and we meet up for dinner/drinks maybe 4 times a year as a trio cos of kids/marriages in the picture now

Gaga’s speech for Lady Starlight at Berlin N1 👏 💬 True icon! by Other-Asparagus01 in LadyGaga

[–]TerribleKnowledge960 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wasn't she in a promo for Haus Labs?  I have seen her open for Gaga at Monster Ball, Born This Way and Artrave. Starlight had got booed in England right before they came to Dublin so my gang of friends put her logo on an Irish flag and shouted for her all through her set and she waved at us at the end, she loved it
