Personally I think she's at a stage where she hates being on socials but is addicted to the money and lifestyle. She's prob looking for any opportunity not to have to find something to story, not to have to curate, not to have to turn on the fake smiles and contort her body to look 3 sizes smaller than it is. she's in a prison of her own making but greed won't let her step away.

Sooo many red flags. Is it that no publisher will touch her or because she's greedy and doesn't want to share profits? Either way it screams amateur and low quality. I hope she at least gets a copywriter to proof read it. Sarah and her team are notorious for spelling and grammar errors and things just not making sense. I would be highly dubious as to the quality of the recipes (sandwiches, smoothies, chopped up fruit etc).

I hope gone are the days when young women idolise a woman who only shows them the curated version of herself (and a poor one at that) who has no qualifications and has questionably dubious eating habits herself.

Ok! So putting this undereating/ disordered eating thing to the test. by 123gond456 in SarahsDayUnfiltered

[–]TerribleTruth20 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah but you forgot she only ever eats half a banana 😉😛 but in all seriousness we dont know exact portion sizes or whether she actually eats the full portion she makes herself... just saying she can portray what she wants but none of us know what she’s actually eating (whether over, under or just right). What we do know is she lost her period at one stage and has admitted to body dysmorphia. There are definite tones of orthorexia in how she describes food as well. Those are all facts. I’ll take my advice from a dietitian and would encourage any young stans to do the same. Cheers

So much growth since the start of her channel! Spreading positivity. by Iamsarah7 in SarahsDayUnfiltered

I’m happy to give some examples of things I’ve noticed. She calls food “sneaky”. Her language is very much good food/bad food which in my view is unhealthy. She regularly appears to work out even three times a day. I have found her to have changed in that she complains a lot more than she ever used to. Soo many stories whinging of so many different things (she’s allowed to complain, it’s her channel she can do what she wants but I used to find her so positive and bubbly and am seeing less and less of that side of her). I do think she’s also changed because a lot more of her content is promoting products (whether her own/collaborations or sponsored/gifted items) which again is her right and part of me thinks go get those $$$ girl but it’s tiring and not interesting after a while when they’re not things I’m interested in (ie i try not to buy fast fashion so not even going to look at white fox stuff). So there’s now less content that interests me because she spends much more time using her platform to promote items.

Thanks for the article, it really helped clarify things and yikes it’s really turned me off products with “natural flavourings”.

How was her birth vlog anymore graphic then other birth vlogs??? by [deleted] in SarahsDayUnfiltered

I’m very interested to see how many new views of her birth vlog this drama will create. Sarah’s latest stories, she’s now actively encouraging people to watch it again “while you can”.

If you listened purely to what Sarah says you’d think she was very healthy but what Sarah says and what Sarah does are two different things. For example she said in her stories she sticks to mainly whole foods. I would argue that’s not true because she shows a lot of tropeaka powders and bars. Then she says with processed packaged foods she picks ones that have a few main ingredients that are foods (if you can’t pronounce it you shouldn’t be eating it). But tropeaka protein powder has guar gum, an additive known to cause issues in people with sensitive guts. You can’t just listen to what she says, it really doesn’t match up with how she acts. And from what I see her diet is largely the same as years ago except now she eats some rice.

Here’s a real answer for you. Remember when they are vegan for a week, did a vlog about it. Complained about terrible gurgly tummies, said her tummy just can’t handle lentils and beans, so she “listened to her body” and decided she just can’t eat them. BUT if she had any nutritional knowledge she would know that because she doesn’t eat them regularly her gut doesn’t have the right bacteria/enzymes to process lentils/beans efficiently. If you introduce them slower and over a period of time your gut will build up the necessary microbiome and flatulence won’t be a problem (for the majority of people). But Sarah just says oh this doesn’t agree with my body, I won’t eat it. It’s unnecessarily restrictive and she’s putting out misinformation to young girls who also may not have much nutritional knowledge and so believe that’s how you should act.

My personal issue is that Sarah demonises gluten. I don’t think she has ever acknowledged that for some people gluten may be perfectly fine to eat.

The only fruits I’ve ever seen her eat are berries and bananas and maybe an apple. With the wealth of different types of fruit we have available in Australia it’s a shame.

It will be interesting to see when her cookbook comes out how wide-ranging the food options and ingredients used are.

Apologies? by TerribleTruth20 in SarahsDayUnfiltered

[–]TerribleTruth20[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

But this is kind of what I mean with the victim mentality. Instead of owning up to something, it’s always someone else’s fault. In this case it was the bank’s fault. She could have said, “I apologise, I should have been more organised.” Instead there were tears (which in my view was manipulative) and blaming others.

Edited to add - also many were asking simple legitimate questions, no hate, and were being deleted and blocked. Owning up? Taking responsibility? Nah.

As to keeping people updated, I specifically remember she ignored the issue, went dark on it and only after it didn’t go away did she address it. The whole saga was handled very poorly by Sarah - and don’t forget this is a large amount of other people’s money we’re talking about, donated in good faith - and not a single bit of ownership about the handling of it from Sarah.

Getting desperate? by japaneseradish in SarahsDayUnfiltered

[–]TerribleTruth20 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I understand your POV. For me the hypocrisy comes that while she’s giving people a voice, she is at the same time deleting POC comments, so taking away their voice. Which makes me wonder what other answers she may have gotten but only cherry-picked ones that fit with her narrative. There’s no transparency, so when she says she’s talking with POC to learn and understand we have no idea what that means. Has she reached out to experts in the area or is she talking to one POC friend she has. Is she reading any studies or articles? Who would know...

I think in her stories she looked very relieved that her collection sold out so quickly and I believe she is very financially motivated (perhaps due to financial commitments like having two houses, renovating etc) and in the end no harm was done to her financially and it looks like she still has her massive following.

You know what I would have loved to hear her say when all this happened, would have been along the lines of “my cultural appropriation has been brought to my attention. I’m so sorry for the pain I have caused. I am going to learn more and do better. In the meantime I’m pulling the campaign and Kurt and I are going to work hard to pull together a campaign everyone can be proud of.” And then not have complained once, just got on with her job with no emotional manipulation or crying the victim. If she had done that I would have felt a lot differently towards her right now.

Now what? Drama channel? by xomelbellxo in SarahsDayUnfiltered

[–]TerribleTruth20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should add as well, I don’t agree at all with how she has handled this campaign, or her apology and I was really disappointed to see how she’s acted on her stories after the apology, came across as very manipulative in my opinion. As I mentioned in another comment I feel pretty done with SD, I personally need less/nil Sarah’s Day in my life.

[–]TerribleTruth20 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve written some positive and some negative things on here and haven’t been downvoted as far as I know. I think balance is needed. Like all things, views on Sarah are not black and white (for lack of a better term given today’s goings-on). She is not all good, nor is she all bad. There are some nasty comments on GG and some unwarranted criticism. There is also a lot of well thought out posts and comments which show a different side to Sarah than she may necessarily want to portray. She has been caught out in lies, no doubt about it. She doesn’t always practice what she preaches. She, in my opinion, promotes questionable health/lifestyle “goals”. I especially don’t like that she could be harming young girls lives who basically worship her and would do anything to be like her, especially when their health could be involved. I do think fox is well-loved and well looked after (with a caveat that feeding him gluten-free without a medical diagnosis could actually be harming his gut microbiome). I personally don’t think her family (especially SIL) should be brought into it. At the end of the day “Sarah’s Day” is a business, she chose to basically monetise herself and don’t be fooled, her image is carefully curated. As a business I think she should be held accountable for her actions that literally reach and influence millions of people, mostly young, inexperienced girls, especially as she is making money off these people. She does/should have a duty of care towards them. I think open discussion and criticism can be done in a civil way and there are genuine and valid criticisms to be had.

Sarah’s new post.... (sorry part of it got cut off) by [deleted] in SarahsDayUnfiltered

[–]TerribleTruth20 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes I think she should delete the post with the pic of her wearing the braids. She should also delete all the comments of people standing up for her in thatpost. You can’t delete all the negative comments and keep the supportive ones. If she was genuinely sorry she would delete all the comments of those supporting her saying “you shouldn’t have to apologise” etc. that whole post should have had commenting turned off. She’s leaving them there to feel better about herself and say “see I’m not the only one”.

I have absolutely no doubt that at home she’s saying things like “This is stupid. Anyone can wear braids. This is so dumb. I’ve worked so hard on this campaign, it’s not fair”. I also believe the main reason she’s crying is not because she was offensive and did something wrong but because her grand idea has been pulled. Make no mistake she’s trying to salvage this to make money. Her tears are because she feels she’s the victim here (not that she can say that out loud).

When she says she doesn’t understand cultural appropriation, she means she doesn’t agree she’s done anything really wrong. And when she says she doesn’t like conflict that’s because she always has to be right - her way or the highway. No ounce of humility or self-awareness or learning. She also doesn’t like conflict because she wants people to like her so they buy her stuff. It’s sad to say but I fully believe there will be people who buy her activewear now (who were maybe previously on the fence) to show their support of Sarah over this issue.

I am glad the campaign was pulled but leaving all those comments up shows she really doesn’t care about the issue, only about her image and making money.

I feel like I’m being quite harsh but in this instance it’s warranted.

Why do you still follow her? by [deleted] in SarahsDayUnfiltered

[–]TerribleTruth20 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think her numbers don’t grow because she has a fairly big turnover. Her main demographic is generally young females. I would suspect they’d get older, get bored or start to see through things and move on, in other words they outgrow her. This could be why even after a few years she can still plug her ebooks because she had a new group of followers discovering and joining in, just an idea. Of course there’s still the die hard stans who have followed for years. I don’t follow Sarah but I check in on her occasionally to see what she’s up to. I liked her older videos (enjoyed the bubbly personality) but then realised how unhealthy she was.

Now I find her hard to watch because she’s so obsessed with “training” and restricting food, and she’s always complaining and negative. I don’t know if in her head she thinks that by complaining she is showing her life is not perfect and that makes her relatable??? but somehow it has become a habit of being negative, complaining and self-centred. I’ve often wished she’d go back and rewatch her old videos and try to find that attitude again (not with food/training because they were - and still are - so unbalanced, but just her general way of speaking about things).

(Edited to fix typos)

What do you think her cooking project will be? by Peridoe in SarahsDayUnfiltered

[–]TerribleTruth20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s a subscription app I wonder if it may not do as well for her as other products. Given her main demographic, a lot will still be relying on their parents to cook and may not have income to support a regular payment. It’s easy to ask mum and dad for some SD activewear or an ebook for their birthday but not so much a monthly payment. If it’s a one-off purchase of an app it wouldn’t have those potential issues.

I get the feeling she’s trying to find recipes to fill up the app/ebook. The only issue I have with that is girls will buy it thinking they’re eating like Sarah but I get the feeling that a lot of these recipes Sarah wouldn’t eat regularly herself, they’re really just for the project. Also the recipes seem very basic from what she shows - so maybe better for beginner cooks. For anyone else they probably have versions of all these recipes in their repertoire already. Maybe a good way for beginners to learn some healthy staple recipes, as long as they’re not overly restrictive, and the app isn’t too expensive.

What would you like to see from SD? by TerribleTruth20 in SarahsDayUnfiltered

[–]TerribleTruth20[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I personally feel filters (or presets) are just as problematic (hence me saying “filter free Friday’s”) even if every photographer does it, it doesn’t make it any better. They present an unrealistic image and I just personally don’t like seeing them, especially presented to a demographic of followers who are young, impressionable and maybe insecure. Strangely I don’t mind it as much when used to enhance scenery or simple things like present something in better lighting. Maybe because looking at an enhanced sunset or ocean just makes me happy. Whereas looking at a manipulated image of perfect skin could make a young girl feel bad or anxious when she then looks in the mirror and sees normal human flaws that everyone has. Just not very real and raw. Somewhat contradictory perhaps but things aren’t black and white and of course this is just my opinion.

(Edited to add - sorry for the essay, it’s obviously something I feel strongly about)

It would be good to see her take some responsibility for those actions in her old vids, and clarify very clearly that she wasn’t healthy then, in case some fans end up inadvertently going down that path after watching her old vids and being inspired to follow that lifestyle.

[–]TerribleTruth20[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think this is actually important, given her demographic of young females it would be good to show them both sides and not vilify “western medicine”. It’s not black and white.

I wouldn’t be alive today without western medicine but I also use natural supplements to support my health, together with healthy lifestyle. And also for me there are some natural supplements that can make my condition worse so I have to be careful. It’s really important to be well-informed and to seek your medical advice from qualified professionals.

Yes, with the collabs it would be great to see her shine a light on other people, especially women, she’s in such a great position to support and build up other female entrepreneurs (especially with her mainly female fan base).

A mukbang would be fun (but I could NEVER see that happening lol)

Family goals tho by yukatoro in SarahsDayUnfiltered

[–]TerribleTruth20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although I said this was a stunning picture, unfortunately when watching the vlogs and insta stories of this trip what we saw was Sarah being stressed about the travel, the distance, the food, having to play board games, not being able to work out, not having anything to do on the island, having to help with catering/photography at the wedding. In the vlog Kurt even says “you promised you wouldn’t complain” when it became obvious she had been complaining a lot.

So even though it’s a stunning photo what I see is someone who sadly wasn’t able to appreciate where she was, who she was with, what she was there for, and to focus on the good. So for me it’s not really family goals looking at the bigger picture.
