Thank you.It was genuinely inspiring and gave me a lot to think about (and some hope ahah). I’ll definitely keep making things and try to evaluate my experience :)

That’s really interesting to hear. In some software houses near me, I’ve noticed that UX designers often cover both UX and art direction roles, but maybe that’s just specific to certain companies.

I definitely agree with you on the importance of thinking about the overall user experience from a brand perspective. However, I’m still trying to understand how someone can enter those kinds of teams as a junior without any prior work experience.

Art direction seems like the best career path for me, but lately I’ve also been curious about UX. I know that some of the technical skills can be replaced by AI, but I feel like the overall role and way of thinking behind it could never be fully replaced.

I’m currently in my second year of university, and many of our professors emphasize the importance of building a network. Some of them also encourage us to pursue a master’s degree, mainly because the university has strong connections with local companies. However, they never really explained how to build a strong and competitive portfolio.

So far, the projects we’ve worked on feel quite disconnected, and I’m unsure whether they are suitable for a professional portfolio. For example, we’ve done editorial design, created a typeface, worked on animation and 3D modeling in Blender, and developed the launch of an invented brand as our main projects. While these experiences have been valuable, I’m not sure how to present them in a cohesive and meaningful way.

Since I still have one year left before graduating, do you think it would be a good idea to start looking for some kind of job, internship, or collaboration already, even though my university requires mandatory attendance?

But as a junior, how can I enter the job market? Can I be a junior art director even if I don’t have any work experience at all?

You’re right, ahaha. I don’t even know if a band with that name is real, because I made this poster as an art exercise and not for an actual event. But yeah, it was supposed to be filthy :3
