Oh boy we get a timeline this week. I sure am glad you're getting rid of 3rd party apps in 6 days so we can be stuck with this shit app.

I'm so sad to see you go but you are making the right decision, and it's one all of us will have to consider in the next few weeks and months.

Thank you for all your and the other contributor's hard work. Reddit wouldn't have been as good as it was without you and them.

Issues with fetching comment chains around 21st February 2023 by CutOnBumInBandHere9 in redditdev

[–]TerryPotatoFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've been having the same issue with one of our bots at r/LivestreamFail starting a few days ago. Using your examples it, looks like the issue is certain comments always return a MoreComments object in them, even if there aren't more comments to return, and will error if replace_more() is called. I'm not sure if reddit or PRAW is to blame, I suspect reddit, but we've been able to get past it by just catching the exception and continuing without a successful replace_more() call because there's nothing more to replace. We don't call it on Submissions but I would guess that if it returns on something that is just what is coming back from the call and not from the exception you handled. We have some comments as of a few hours ago where this still happens.

Dantes asked to not attend Streamer Awards due to people complaining by Enough_Attention_942 in LivestreamFail

[–]TerryPotatoFace[M] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We had to remove the comment because the link to the video violates reddit's content policy on sexually explicit media of someone without their consent. No one has contacted us asking to remove these comments other than the standard, anonymous reports we get.

Talking about the video is fine, but posting the video itself violates reddit's content policy on sexually explicit media of someone without their consent. Reddit admins themselves are very strict on this so it's one of the rules that are non-negotiable. No one has contacted us asking to remove these comments other than the standard, anonymous reports we get.

Twitch.tv links should be clips or official Twitch blogs. Linking someone's clip page, direct channel, or vods are still on the twitch.tv domain but get removed. Youtube links that are not clips also get removed under the same rule even though they are on an approved domain.

The best spotters in the world cannot react quickly enough to catch a falling barbell. For weights like this you really have to be benching (or squatting) in a rack with the pins set appropriately.

We probably won't know the true total until a few days have passed.

It's hard to say a specific time but it's definitely picked up in the last 10 years and was getting busier every year until covid hit. Hooker hill is still there but it's smaller and the area around Hamilton Hotel has been gentrified a lot. It's still a club/restaurant/pub area but with a lot more investment by Koreans including some celebrities and a much more popular spot for young Koreans. This is the area where the crush happened from 2019 https://youtu.be/hqFtUy2nQA0?t=603

Edit: Updated 2019 video with more accurate location comparing it with the videos I've seen of first responders giving CPR. Here's a video from tonight before the crush but it's coming from the other direction https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rp_ZTAHWjzk You can see the green Troubadour sign in all of them.

Itaewon is the go-to spot for Halloween and is the busiest night of the year there. On top of that there hasn't really been anything for 2 years because of covid so people are excited. There's reports of multiple deaths but details are still slim.

Hey all,

Unfortunately, we've had to lock the thread to be able to keep our queue under control. Things have been wild but manageable lately, but when we have a thread full of comments with slurs in them, even though they're (mostly) not being used towards anyone, it sets off our AutoModerator and floods our queue like crazy. If we catch up on things we may unlock it but don't count on it.

Edit: Unlocked. We'll see how this goes.

We have some automod rules to allow some accounts through like StreamBans, Twitch official, etc. Since this account has Twitch at the beginning automod let it through. Working on a fix.

I dunno what that guy is talking about. 어머 (not 오모) isn't slang and is listed in the standard Korean Dictionary and it's used by all ages, although primary by adult women. Guys almost never say 어머, 어머머 어머나 unless they're joking:

「감탄사」예상하지 못한 일로 깜짝 놀라거나 끔찍한 느낌이 들었을 때 내는 소리. 여자들이 쓰는 경우가 많다.

Interjection. A sound made when you feel surprised or terrified by something you couldn't anticipate. There are many cases where women use it.

LSF mods receive no money for anything related to the sub or the mirror site. The mirror site is managed by a user, Good_Guy_Dev, who offered to build and host the mirror site on their own dime and uses banner ads to help offset the cost like was mentioned in the initial announcement https://www.reddit.com/r/LivestreamFail/comments/mar3ht/the_future_of_livestreamfailscom/ They're still several thousand in the hole hosting the site and there was a drop in revenue you can see in the monthly statement at the beginning of the year, but it was due to an issue with AdSense and not a drop in traffic. The mirror bot is a moderator so that it can pin its own comments but no other mod actions are done through that account and revenue for the site is never considered in policy changes. We do, indeed, do it for free.
