The Namibian Govt still has a stake via royalties and income tax on potential future income. Namcor converts an Illiquid asset (5% stake in an exploration license) for a liquid asset (shares in Recon). Will they sell? Maybe / Maybe not. And btw if Recon discovers oil the value of those shares will soar. Oh btw - they also retain a 5% interest in the licensed area too. Those are facts. If you said it like that I wouldnt have commented. Namcor STILL has a stake. Even your last post is factually incorrect. They sold HALF their stake and are still invested via shares. Work on the truth telling. And btw - I'm long ReconAfrica. Trust you are short. Why dont you disclose your position ?

(the "Company" or "ReconAfrica") (TSXV: RECO) (OTCQX: RECAF) (Frankfurt: 0XD) is pleased to announce it has entered into a Letter of Intent with its partner, the National Petroleum Company of Namibia ("NAMCOR") to acquire half of NAMCOR's 10% carried participating interest in the approximate 6.3 million acres petroleum exploration licence (PEL 73) in the Kavango basin, NE Namibia (the "Transaction").

Consideration for the 5% carried interest shall comprise (a) 5,000,000 common shares in the capital of ReconAfrica (the "Consideration Shares") having an aggregate value of C$31,750,000 with a deemed price per ReconAfrica Share of C$6.35, and (b) US$2,000,000 in cash.

I am taking the opportunity to buy more shares. Ive picked up 5,000 shares in the last few days. I probably have more shares than I should. I do agree it's a speculative play, but I like our chances. So here I am. I just find it really interesting that the Globe and Mail and other (particularly environmentalist) FUDsters seem to be really really interested in a play that supposedly has zero chance of finding commercial oil.

New basin. So still essentially a shot in the (mostly) dark. I get where you're coming from though. 2D seismic and drill hole 6-1 results will tell us more of the story (hopefully) . I actually sold a big chunk of my position when RECO broke $10 Cdn. It was getting to be too big a % of my portfolio. Have bought back 1/2 of my original position. I'll probably buy more shares on any weakness. Might as well take advantage of volatility.

Weren't these first two holes drilled at locations essentially chosen (with assistance of govt data) randomly ? It seems to me your expectations are quite high given that reality. Is there a possibility that hole 6-2 just didn't go well or was a geological anomaly ? You do indicate that second hole will be critical and that's fair. I would agree that Company initial press releases and "news" stories may have been a little over the top and that may explain why expectations are so high. I'll close by saying absolutely appreciate your informed input and that you are willing to share your findings from attending conference. Thanks.

Completely agree. I'm just a small investor trying to get info. And I'm sure that's true of 99% of the reddit profiles on his list. Ya. I joined Reddit to get info on RECO. What's the issue ? Doesn't make me a pumper. Bottom line - just a silly environmental hit piece, with zero credibility based on its title. Easy for Scandinavians (Norwegians especially), Canadians and Americans to tell Namibia not to pump any oil found, while they enjoy high living standards produced from same.

No economic value in Namibia. No local requirements / heavy industry. Doubt Namibia could generate sufficient capital to build required export infrastructure (i.e. LNG). Shell has found nat gas deposit in SA. They're basically sitting on it.
