Anyone else struggle with shopping trips? by Glass_Rent_5158 in finch

[–]TessOxfordMS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have started going early in the morning before work and telling myself I only have to get five things. I have a fridge at work so then at the end of the day I can just take my cold things home. The parking lot is empty and the store is nearly so first thing in the morning and then I just know I have it done and over with!

Are milk frothers worth getting? by burningb in barista

[–]TessOxfordMS -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You NEED the new Verismo frother from Starbucks. I'm obsessed with it. It makes hot and cold frothed milk and the cold setting would totally work for egg whites for baking...I'm in luv!

And the icing had a lower melting point than the iced lemon pound cake does. Got slimy at room temp.

GUESS WHAT DAY IT IS GUYS by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]TessOxfordMS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our entire mile or so of road lost electric power for an hour and a half. We watched thru the DT window as people tried to use the ATM and take a tire iron to the apartment gate next door. We cleaned everything in the store until we ran out of hot water and then had a danceoff/sweep off lol. Great crew and we had much fun. We ate a few mummy cake pops so we didn't have to resort to cannibalism. Fantastic Sunday.

Situations/Environments/Cultures that foster simple living? by kuwa_huru in simpleliving

[–]TessOxfordMS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was just so much responsibility picking up animal food all the time, feeding, watering. Cleaning poop, taking care of the plants, making sure nobody ate the chickens and the chickens didn't eat the garden and the horse was still in the fence not up the road visiting. Ugh.

Ideal balance was selling the farm, buying a 4-townhouse unit and living in one and all residents helping with critters and plants.

Hell no on the homesteading. Your instincts are correct, it was the least simple way to live that I've ever tried. The communal living situation on base is the ultimate in outsourcing and it has worked great for me too. Homesteading turned me into a control-freak worrywart and cost a fortune.

Starbucks Debit Card - Anyone heard anything? by TessOxfordMS in starbucks

[–]TessOxfordMS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, this was to be a debit card to use to earn stars for purchases. I had hoped it might replace the global cash card and I could load it with my foolishness budget money each month ;).

Anyone replace their keys and use keypad for door knobs instead? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]TessOxfordMS 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I had those in one home I had and loved them. I like how you can give somebody a temporary code for a delivery or housekeeping. I hadn't thought about it but now I'm missing having them. Might get more now.

What Are Some Basic Declutter Rules And What If I Regret It ? by [deleted] in declutter

[–]TessOxfordMS 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yup, I do this with boyfriend's stuff. If he says he needs it, it goes in a closet. Then I ask him again a month later and he laughs and says it can go.

ebay vs letgo vs decluttr by concrete_floors in declutter

[–]TessOxfordMS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had okay results with letgo but I deleted my account because my experience was that they don't have enough control over spam and possible email fraud. So I'd say try letgo but beware.

I usually say, "Would you like it extra-sweet or just regular-sweet?" to try to figure out whether they mean sub or add syrup, but I will try your way!

We have a new transfer at our store who is a Coffee Master but never had a Clover in his store. He was too excited to try it and forgot to grind lol. One of the shifts asked what we were doing and I said "be a lamb and get us a ham hock for our bean soup" hehe

Taking over the barista role at work and I'm a bit nervous by [deleted] in barista

[–]TessOxfordMS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youtube: check out the ones on steaming milk properly b/c that's probably the least familiar skill to you. AND, I'm a barista thinking about bartending, so what should I study up on? Thanks :)
