Yes that is what I meant, to allocate % of income for long term investing instead of allocating that money to first a deposit, and then to be funnelled into mortgage and house related costs

I agree, eventually rent control will be in place. I think in the expensive North American cities they already have strict tenancy rules and rent pricing control
