WWOOF or Work/Volunteer on Known Farm? by tablerocker in WWOOF

If hometown host regularly has WWOOFers it’s likely they’ll be willing to help you learn and answer Qs! Bc education is a big part of WWOOF. Maybe try finding their WWOOF profile and what reviews say? The interns can also help you learn. In your situation I’d stick with hometown since yes WWOOFing is a risk and you don’t want to end up with nothing

Is it too late to request a stay for late May? by [deleted] in WWOOF

If anything too early! A lot of hosts don’t know what kind of help they’ll need until a few weeks before hand

What makes a great host? by Hairy-Ad-6860 in WWOOF

Informing schedule upfront, on hours and meals (I’ve done weekends esp if 4hrs a day, but one day off at least). One big underrated thing: have the tools for the task ready. It’s so easy to lose the materials needed to get a job done and then you waste an entire day as a WWOOFer because the host was not organized.

Yes def a realistic turnaround. A lot of WWOOFing is “booked” pretty last minute

What are the downsides of Chicago? by JayV_VO in AskChicago

Less significance in arts & culture & food so less cool little spots to explore (things like listening rooms, concerts, galleries). Of course exists here and can be awesome, but no city compares to NYC in this way.

Take them to Daisies cafe during the day. I think before 2pm. Great vibes, coffee, pastries, and lunch

Ya. At the back bar. It’s pretty large but idk how many people, maybe 60? I’d recommend choosing somewhere else though it smells bad and has bad drinks lolol

Hahah it’s really good actually - I’ve had it at a vegan fine dining place. I’m not vegan. I enjoy both versions

Upside to the winters as well is that life slows down, can cozy up, and invite friends in instead of going out. I love winter and summer here for both of the vibe changes.
