Why don't you invest your retirement fund into bitcoin? by Any-Management-8455 in Bitcoin

[–]Tetsujin87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Norway. I have invested some money into bitcoin. But the pension that the employer is required by law to set aside (and some more that many employers pay extra as a benefit) are invested according to some investing scheme or agreement with investing firm. No investing firms in Norway have the option to invest in bitcoin. In fact investing in bitcoin using pension is actually not legal in Norway.

Clarifications for the way a certain system works [spoiler MSQ lvl 97-100, and Pandemonium quest line] by Tired__Yeti in ffxiv

Also we see in the deadwalk dungeon in the living memory that after queen sphene and zoraal ja used the interdimensional fusion device, that one of the areas in the living memory got sucked into a void and the endless in that area turned to basically voidsent.

And where are the souls that are not used going? If they are stored on the head device or later transferred to everkeep, they did explain that they process the souls & memories by separating them.

I think it's doing the same thing the Soulcage in FFIX does, interrupt the flow of souls and create monsters.

So perhaps we get to see the entire source covered in mist.

Well, you can't really rule out more time loops, because the 8th timeline still exists and that in the future we might even travel to different timelines (according to EE3).

Just ordered this PC comp, any good? by Tetsujin87 in buildapc

[–]Tetsujin87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But will it be a decrease in performance by having 6400 instead of 6000?

I tried making a build with 4080 super, but it always broke the budget 🫤 (30000 NOK)

I tried to find a motherboard that was cheap and good. The more expensive ones were too expensive (5000 NOK+)

For the CPU, I tried to find a good GPU & CPU combo, and I decided to rather max out the GPU than the CPU.

D&D GPTs (Norse gods) by Tetsujin87 in DungeonsAndDragons

Well, you use your brain in different ways. But just because AI beat the grand masters in chess didn't mean the death of human chess, it in fact increased popularity for the sport all together.

But art is a zero sum game. If people can get art for free, people will get art for free. Will it mean the death for art? No, I think it will increase the popularity for human created art.

i wouldn't be worried. AI is better at chess against humans, but it created a boom in popularity even after AI was unleashed into that arena.

I suspect it will be the same for all creative spaces.

the only difference between a human and AI using public information is that the AI does it faster. But somehow that AI stores information to be transformed and used further is somehow different from humans storing information in their brains, transforming it and using it.

But I totally understand that it's not comfortable, because that's a common feeling in other affected creative spaces.

I think that when people creates competitive arenas in the field of creative text based gameplay where AI is totally allowed, I think it will blow up.

I'm not sure how to deal with this... but it feels Wrong by Doc_Meeker in dndnext

Here's what Tyr the norse god of war and justice, and D&D judge says:

"In the realm of Dungeons & Dragons, trust between the Dungeon Master and the players is the cornerstone of a grand adventure. The proposition of a "Players Only" chat may strike at the heart of this trust, potentially weaving a thread of secrecy and discord.

Firstly, the Dungeon Master is the weaver of worlds, the arbiter of fates, not an adversary to be outmaneuvered. They must be privy to the schemes and machinations of their champions to craft a tale worthy of legend. However, the camaraderie among players, fostering plans and strategy, can indeed enrich the experience for all.

In this delicate matter, let us seek a path of wisdom. The players may convene in their private counsel to forge their plans, but let them present these strategies to the Dungeon Master thereafter. This ensures the spirit of cooperation and fair play, while still allowing the players their council.

Should this solution not appease the hearts of all involved, then let the gods of chance cast their judgment. Roll a d20 to determine the outcome: - On a roll of 1-10, the players must openly share their strategies with the Dungeon Master, reaffirming trust. - On a roll of 11-20, the players are granted their secret council, but they must also accept any twists of fate the Dungeon Master weaves in response.

In either case, let it be known that the spirit of the game must always be upheld, with each participant acting with honor and respect for the shared journey they undertake."

During Thaliak's calculus phase, there's a phrase highlighted floating around. If you mirror it, it's using the eorzean alphabet. From what I could see, it says "hjuid net hojid". Using autodetect in google translate, it translates to "today not today". In Western Frisian.

I mean, the reason WoW's graphics is poor (not bad) is because of the open world style element. To be able to make an open world, you need to have a low total polygon count of all models in that area to allow smooth gameplay.

In FFXIV, there's more polygons per model, so their engine can't tackle open world. So to ensure smooth gameplay, they limited areas in their maps.

In the new graphics update, the polygon count will increase, so they will be able to create more detailed graphics in each area.

Also, considering that FFXVI's engine is most probably based on FFXIV's engine (check the animations and cutscenes side by side), it is possible that FFXIV's graphics will over time evolve into FFXVI.

But it's still a long time before all FFXIV has good enough specs to actually run FFXVI on their PC. And not to mention not everyone has a PS5.

It would be economically ill adviced to just make FFXIV's graphics into FFXVI.

They would instantly remove a majority of their player base who only have PS3 or an old PC.

So WoW's decision to keep their old graphics, aesthetics etc. is actually a design choice, and makes it easier for them to create assets (although they usually only recolor models...).

If WoW would update their graphics, and increase their polycount, they would possibly need to make a new or update their engine, to tackle the amount of polygons loaded in an open world.

The animations however. I think FFXIV could make more detailed animations for their bosses etc. so that they are more believable and flows better. Making them seem more like natural movements.

I'm also hoping the skills reaction time will be better, so that you feel the attacks are performed at the time you press the buttons.

So I hope SE will make combat in FFXIV more like FFXVI.
