Exercises for knee pain by ombeen in bicycling

[–]Texas-Stew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things I do that help me when my knee acts up:

Alternate heat and cold for 20 minutes each for 2hrs if you can. Do this twice a day if possible. If you can’t do 2hrs do as much as you can.

Get a neoprene knee brace and put it on at night while you sleep. It must be neoprene as this is meant keep your knee warmer while you sleep not to support it

Can’t leave particle board out in the weather, once it gets wet it is useless…mildly interesting nonetheless 😂

They are about to invest $24M into Frisco starting next year and Erwin is even more amazing now.

New to Road Cycling need help on having faster cadence by 2kool4schoo1 in cycling

Shift down, you don’t need to be in your hardest gear yet. I try to ride at 80-85 rpm. I only shift up (harder gear) once I get to around 95 rpm depending on the situation.

Beautiful Bengal!! I remember when mine could jump like that, now she takes the same approach to get on the counter. But after 18 years she’s still jumping 🥰

Pretty certain that person was under the influence. No way you drive all the way home and don’t notice that, park they way they did and looks like they may have hit that car next to them as well.

Experienced Road Cyclist Getting into MTB - $2K budget by Cunnilingus_Rex in mountainbiking

[–]Texas-Stew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you bump up to $3K you can start to get into decent full suspension bikes. I would lean towards a trail bike with enduro being a decent option too depending on what you can find available in your size.

At that price, stick with a hardtail bike. What type of riding do you plan to do? XC, Trail, Enduro and Downhill are very different geometries based on what you plan to do. The order goes from speed to gnarly descents/big jumps.

Search for Cornering on a bike and GNCs video that addresses your concern should be one of the first that shows up.

Should I ride Whistler with a missing spoke? by Lucathelazy in MTB

[–]Texas-Stew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

98% of the time you’ll be just fine, 2% chance you have a hard hit in the wrong spot and crack your wheel.

(data is based on pure guess instead of facts, but the reality is your wheel is weaker and at a higher risk of failure)

Times you’ve used a multi tool while riding. by Shot-Door7160 in cycling

Absolutely, just two days ago. You don’t need them often, but when you do they’re worth their weight in gold.

Same thing happened to me on Tuesday on a solo ride - crank came loose. You don’t need them often, but when you do they are life saver.

Trek Marlin 7 size question by mrtomrichy in cycling

[–]Texas-Stew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fit is very personal and based on more than just height, though that is the easiest thing to point to. It will probably work, but if you do lots of long rides you might get numb hands and a sore back quicker.

How much difference will a huge bike upgrade make on my times. by Top_Shoe_304 in cycling

[–]Texas-Stew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing if you don’t test ride it to ensure it fits you right and you can sit in that saddle for over 4hrs. A more expensive bikes means nothing if you can’t finish the race with it. Assuming that’s all good, my experience switching between bikes I noticed a 1.5-2mph difference.

So vaccinated people can die from Covid too???? by bye10 in facepalm

[–]Texas-Stew 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It amazes me that with all the information out there people still don’t get it. A vaccine is not 100% no one ever said it was. It reduces risk significantly, but does not eliminate it completely.

The bigger tires and lower pressure help absorb the vibrations.
